Over the weekend, longtime PocketFiver James Andy McLEODObst (pictured) finished third in both the PokerStars Sunday 500and Sunday $100 Rebuy for over $60,000 total. He doesn’t have his screen names entered in his PocketFives profile, but after a comment from one PocketFiver that read “a third in the Sunday 500 and a third in the Sunday Rebuy, pretty sick for Andy McLEOD,” we thought an article was due.

We’ll start with the PokerStars Sunday 500, which drew a field of 802 entrants and blasted its $300,000 guarantee by $100,000. When all was said and done, Obst finished in third place for $38,000 and watched as PocketFivers staszeqand NukeTheFish chopped heads-up for $66,000 and $58,000, respectively. The tournament paid out to the top 117 finishers. That was only one-half of Obst’s Sunday, however.

That brings us to the PokerStars Sunday $100 Rebuy, which drew a field of 833 entrants and passed its guarantee of $200,000 by 20%. The tournament went un-chopped and Obst raked in another $24,000. The Sunday $100 Rebuy paid out to the top 99 finishers.

Obst has FTOPS, SCOOP, and WCOOP titles, the latter of which was worth almost $200,000 and came in a $3,150 Six-Max Mixed Hold’em event in 2009. In that tournament, he staved off fellow PocketFiver Steve gboro780 Gross heads-up. A few months later, he finished fifth in the FTOPS Main Event for $127,000.

Obst has nearly $1 million in live scores to his name, according to the Hendon Mob, including $103,000 for a third place finish in a WSOP Seven Card Stud event last year. 2014 marked his first WSOPand he certainly made the most of it, as he also finished tenth in the Poker Player’s Championship for over $100,000. In 2011, he took fifth in the Aussie Millions Main Event in his native Australia.

Congrats to Obst on his big Sunday!
