The month of March has been mighty kind to PocketFives.com member bbbbb33(pictured), who more commonly goes by the name Freddy on the site. Freddy took down three tournaments across three sites tracked for the PocketFives.com Online Poker Rankingswithin a seven-day window for his first Triple Crown. He’s 44th in the Rankings and has over $3 million in tracked tournament earnings to his credit. We caught up with Freddy to recap his latest milestone.

On March 1st, Freddy came away with the win in the PokerStars Turbo $10,000 Guaranteefor $5,000. The tournament boasted a prize pool of $27,000 and marked the first leg of his Triple Crown bid. Then, it was on to Full Tilt Poker, where he emerged victorious in the $100,000 Guarantee for $26,000 along with a healthy 334 PLB Points. His Triple Crown run ended with the UB.com $15,000 Guarantee on March 7th, six days after he began.

On March 10th, he picked up a win in the PokerStars $100 Rebuy for $17,000 in a tournament that will officially count for his Triple Crown. The bottom line is that he’s been on a tear as of late and climbed from 57th to 44th in the Rankings last week. Still, he expects to peak even higher: “The Rankings lag a week or two, so by two weeks from now, I’ll probably be around 30.” The Rankings are recalibrated every Wednesday.

For now, Freddy has his sights set on the upcoming PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker, or SCOOP, schedule, which gets underway on May 8th with the first of 38 events. Each has three buy-in levels – Low, Medium, and High – which should make for a competitive tournament series once again after over $60 million was distributed last year. Freddy admitted, “I’d like to win the SCOOP Main Event and then I’d probably be ranked like #1, but I’m not going to grind any harder than I do to get ranked higher.”

Speaking of the SCOOP schedule, Freddy was looking forward to trying his hand at large-scale Mixed Games. He divulged, “I played Stud and Stud Eight or Better before I played Hold’em. I play in a pretty big Omaha Eight or Better game in Atlantic City semi-regularly.”

Following Robert Varkonyi‘s win in the 2002 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event, Freddy transitioned from Stud to Hold’em. The move came one year prior to the No Limit Hold’em boom and he joined the PocketFives.com community in the first month of 2006.

Last September, Freddy took down a $320 No Limit Hold’em Turbo tournament during the PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker, or WCOOP, for well over $100,000. His claims to fame also include a chop of the PokerStars Sunday Million for $79,000 and two chops of the Full Tilt $750,000 Guarantee for nearly $170,000 combined.

Along the way, he’s received support from several successful players, including Benson BBOY3110Nikkerson, Mark dipthrongHerm, and Jamie pokerjamersArmstrong (pictured). Freddy told us, “They helped me transform from a mediocre reg to an above average one. I live 20 minutes from Benson and Mark and Paul paulgees81 Volpe is right there too. We all hang out, usually playing poker, but we definitely do other fun stuff too.”
