Hold onto your butts. Ben Affleck (pictured) and Justin Timberlake are set to star in an online gambling movie, according to the Hollywood Reporter. What the flick will specifically be about is not clear, but we know its title is “Runner, Runner.” Let the puns begin! According to the Hollywood Reporter, “‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ helmer Brad Furman is on board to direct the thriller, which takes place in the world of online gambling. While Timberlake’s deal is closed, Affleck is in final negotiations.”

The Hollywood Reporter added that Brian Koppelman and David Levien, who wrote “Rounders” back in 1998, also penned the screenplay for “Runner, Runner,” whose “production is scheduled to begin this summer in Puerto Rico.” “Rounders,” largely considered the quintessential poker-themed movie, starred Matt Damon, Edward Norton, John Turturro, Famke Janssen, Gretchen Mol, John Malkovich, and Martin Landau.

Levien and Koppelman have also written films like “Runaway Jury,” “Ocean’s Thirteen,” and a handful of episodes of the short-lived ESPN poker series “Tilt.” Meanwhile, according to the Hollywood Reporter, other minds behind “Runner, Runner” include “Appian Way’s Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson Killoran [as producers] along with Double Feature Films’ Michael Shamberg and Stacey Sher, Stone Village Pictures’ Scott Steindorff, and Koppelman and Levien.”

The reaction on TwoPlusTwo to the movie’s existence was largely mixed. One poster, “bbfg,” referenced “Rounders” in saying, “Going from Matt Damon and Edward Norton to Ben Affleck and Justin Timberlake is quite a big downstep. Ben Affleck is okay, but come on, Timberlake?” Timberlake, you’ll recall, starred in the award-winning movie “The Social Network,” which chronicled the birth of Facebook.

Timberlake is very mainstream acceptable now, and is actually a good face to put onto online poker, as he is young and good looking and wealthy,” wrote TwoPlusTwo poster “Protential.” “I don’t expect this to be a great movie, or to blow me away with the acting, but it should be a good mainstream-accepted movie and could put a good spotlight onto online poker for the younger generations, which is very +EV for all of us.”

Timberlake (pictured), who has dated the likes of Britney Spears and Cameron Diaz, has appeared in a potpourri of movies including “Alpha Dog,” “Bad Teacher,” and “Friends with Benefits.” He’s also rumored to be appearing in the second installment of the “Hunger Games” trilogy, “Catching Fire,” which is due out in late 2013.

Affleck stamped his name on the poker scene in 2004, when coaching from the likes of Annie Dukevaulted him into the winner’s circle of the California State Poker Championship in Los Angeles. Affleck claimed $356,000 for the win and edged out a final table that included bracelet winner John Esposito and the late Amir Vahedi.

Affleck’s acting record includes credits like “Good Will Hunting,” “Dogma,” “Daredevil,” and 2010’s “The Town.”
