Monday was a good day for the #2 ranked player in the PocketFives Rankings, as Calvin cal42688Anderson (pictured) not only scored a deep finish in one of the PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) events, but also was able to take his fourth ever title later in the day. He is just the second person to win four SCOOP titles.

The $215 Six-Handed Limit Hold’em tournament (25-M) tournament on this year’s SCOOP schedule drew a field of 639 players to build a prize pool of $127,800 and a first place bounty of $23,643. Anderson came to the final table with a chip stack of slightly more than 517,000, which was good enough for fourth place. Truelove13ruled the roost at the start of the final table, holding just over 787,000 in chips, while jonstarz(600,000), nimzon(579,000), Billy BillyChatChattaway (503,000), and two-time UKIPT champion Nick tanglewizard Abou Risk (207,000) filled out the remaining chairs.

At the start, Anderson pulled a “Babe Ruth” in seemingly calling his shot by saying, “I need a new watch.” It was jonstarz who made the first big move, flopping a flush and getting Truelove13 to come along on every street to take over the lead. Truelove13 never recovered from that, losing another pot to jonstarz before being eliminated in sixth place by Risk after his A-9 couldn’t catch up to A-K on an ace-high board.

Risk kept the pressure on the field by cutting a stack of chips from nimzon, who also couldn’t fight his way back after the defeat. He lost another significant pot to jonstarz to drop to a dangerously low level before his end came on a three-handed pre-flop fight. On that 8-5-3 flop, nimzon and Risk capped the betting and saw running jacks come on the turn and river.

Risk check-called turn and river bets, showing pocket queens on the river, while nimzon could only muster pocket tens. Down to less than a bet, nimzon departed in fifth place when Anderson’s K-3 caught on the flop to defeat him.

Anderson took care of jonstarz in fourth and Risk dismissed Chattaway(pictured) in third to set up the heads-up fight. As the two players went to war, Risk was ahead of Anderson 1.845 million chips to 1.349 million and the duo wasted little time in getting their chips in action. Risk took one of the first hands of heads-up play to jump over two million, but Anderson fought back when he took a 720,000-chip pot after his open-ended straight draw came home on the river.

Anderson continued to pull some good hands, taking over the lead when his pocket kings stood up on a 9-7-6-Q-Q board and extending that lead after hitting a fortuitous flop of A-A-K with A-3.

Risk (pictured) attempted to fight his way back into the game, but an untimely bluff on a K-Q-6-8-K board with only 10-9 that Anderson called down with Q-2 left him with only 500,000 in chips. Shortly after that misstep, the tournament was over.

Risk and Anderson each contributed 100,000 to see a 9-A-7 rainbow flop and capped the betting after seeing that arrangement. A three on the turn saw Anderson push out a 100,000-chip bet and Risk put his final 105,000 in the center of the felt. When the cards were turned up, Anderson had caught with 9-5 of diamonds, but he had to fade 11 outs to Risk’s 10-8 offsuit. When an innocent deuce hit the river, the tournament was over and Anderson claimed his fourth SCOOP title:

1. cal42688 – $23,643
2. nabourisk – $17,636.40
3. b8chatz – $13,099.50
4. jonstarz – $8,946
5. nimzon – $6,390
6. Truelove13 – $3,834

Anderson has demonstrated proficiency across many of the different disciplines of poker with his quartet of SCOOP titles. In 2010, he picked up his first title in a $16.50 Turbo Pot Limit Omaha event and, in 2011, he won two more times in the span of 24 hours in Stud Hi/Lo and Razz. The four titles put him just behind Shaun Deeb (with five) in the chase for the all-time record for SCOOP championships.
