There’s a brand new feature on PocketFives that launched today called Rail. Each member of PocketFives now has their own personal Rail to keep tabs poker-wise on anyone they’d like, similar to Twitter. To view your Rail, just click on the link that says “Rail” at the top of the site underneath the PocketFives logo. You must be logged in to see and use the new Rail feature.

If you’re new to poker, the term “rail” means watching someone while they play poker. On PocketFives, you’ll be Railing a person’s latest cashes, forum posts, and accolades. As PocketFives co-founder Cal Spearsput it in a thread in Poker Community, “Your personal PocketFives Rail allows you to get updates on the players of your choice. Think of it as an extension of our Local Communities – we use a similar format and the same filters. The difference is that you can completely customize the list of players you Rail.”

You’ll see “+Rail” buttons on PocketFives in places like player profiles and in the forums. If you want to Rail someone, all you need to do is click on “+Rail” and they’ll automatically be added to your Rail. You can also Rail people from your Local community. If you don’t want to follow someone anymore, just click the “Un-Rail” button and their updates will be removed from your personal Rail page.

Speaking of the Rail page, you can filter updates from players you Rail to see wall posts, Tweets, poker forum posts, Off Topic posts, live cashes, and online cashes, among other updates. The list of players you’re Railing and players who are Railing you is on the right. Below that, you’ll find a suggested list of players to Rail; you can hit “Refresh” at any time to see more recommendations.

If you were already using the Friends system on PocketFives, you’ll notice that all of your friends have been converted to Railees and Railbirds.

Since this is a brand new feature, if you encounter any bugs, please post them in this PocketFives thread. Similarly, if you have any suggestions for Rail, we’d love to hear them. Please post them in the same thread. Note that if you find any bugs, please post any relevant details that would be helpful, including what browser and operating system you have.

Longtime PocketFives 7DeLuX, who formerly hosted the PocketFives Podcast, posted in Poker Community, “This might be the coolest thing you guys have ever done, and that is saying a lot. Nice work P5s. Continuing to improve year after year is insane.” We’re looking forward to hearing your thoughts on Rail!
