December has been an eventful month for high-stakes poker pro Dan Bilzerian (pictured). Known as the “King of Instagram,” the 34-year-old allegedly assaulted model Vanessa Castano while celebrating his birthday at a South Beach nightclub. Just days later, he was arrested, not for the altercation Miami, but for reportedly having bomb-making materials in his possession.

Fresh out on bail for the explosives charge, Bilzerian is now facing a lawsuit from Castano, who says that she was “violently and intentionally” kicked in the face by Bilzerian, who wore “what resembled military boots.”

Speaking to People Magazine, Bilzerian opened up about the incident in Florida and proclaimed his innocence. “The allegations being made about me are absolutely false,” he said. “I look forward to shedding light on what happened through proper channels.”

On Instagram, the high-stakes poker player gave his own account of what transpired at the Miami nightclub. “Two girls attacked a girl I was with to the point they gave her a black eye and threw her off the table and went after her because they wanted to get closer to me,” he said.

He also lashed out at what he called “trashy gossip websites that don’t fact-check” and claimed they have intentionally been publishing misinformation about him.

For her part, Castano said that she was only trying to break up a fight, not instigate one. “There were two girls standing next to me at the table that were fighting,” she said. “People started getting shoved and I tried to separate them. Then, Dan pushed me off the banquette and once I fell, he kicked me in the face.”

After the altercation, Castano saw that she was bleeding from one eye, but went home without pressing charges because she “felt fine.” After seeing a video of the incident on TMZ, however, she had a change of heart. “I’m lucky that the injuries weren’t worse,” she said. “I did nothing to deserve that kick to the head. I am going to go ahead and pursue legal action against him.”

Friends of Bilzerian have come forward in his defense and called the allegations “very, very suspect.”

“He has never condoned any sort of violence toward women,” a friend told People. “That’s just not what he’s about. Sure, he has sexual relationships with women, but he is all about respecting women… I think that because of Dan’s public lifestyle, he is a target for this type of thing.”

Bilzerian has hired attorney Jose Baez (pictured), best known for getting Casey Anthony off the hook for murder, to defend him against Castano’s lawsuit. Friends of the “Instagram King” added that while his feed is full of scantily clad women, guns, and party pictures, he was “distressed” by the charges. “This is so out of character for him,” a friend said. “He just wants to put it behind him.”

But the 34-year-old’s legal troubles don’t stop there; soon after the incident in Miami, Bilzerian was arrested at LAX and charged with “possessing components of an explosive or incendiary device with intent to manufacture an explosive or incendiary device.”

On Instagram, Bilzerian made light of the situation, simply posting “Jail… Let’s not do that again.”

The high-stakes poker pro was threatened with yet another lawsuit earlier this year when he threw porn star Janice Griffith off of his roof and into a pool, breaking her leg. The moment was caught on camera and showed Griffith to be a more-than-willing participant in the shenanigans.

Bilzerian’s attorney crafted a memorable response to the porn starlet, advising her to pack up all of her belongings and send them to his client. “Then he will probably blow it up with the mortar in the desert,” he said.

Bilzerian is expected to appear in court next month on the explosives charge and faces up to six years in prison.
