A two-and-a-half minute YouTube videofrom PokerStarsteases a soon-to-be-released documentary about Daniel Negreanu (pictured) called “Kid Poker.” “I’m not surprised where I am,” Negreanu narrates on the opening scene. “I always felt like I was going to be successful at whatever it was I did.”

The trailer then shows city scenes of Las Vegas before Jason treysfull21Mercier says over the b-roll, “When you think of poker, most people think of Daniel Negreanu.” Phil Ivey added, “When I met Daniel, he was already a legend.” Negreanu is #2 on the World Poker Tour’s all-time money list and #1 overall on poker’s all-time money list at almost $30 million.

Also chiming in was Antonio Esfandiari. The former Big One for One Drop champion commented, “I think Daniel Negreanu is the most notable, most recognized, most famous poker player in the world.”

Negreanu’s voice is then heard, saying it’s time to start from the beginning: “Both my parents came to Canada with $5 in their pocket and really just worked their way up. My dad was my Superman. We just had a perfect, loving family… In Toronto, I was a bull; I just always pushed people around. And then I go to Vegas as a big, cocky 21-year-old.”

Jennifer Harman told viewers of the trailer that Negreanu promptly went broke and had to start all over again, a rocky start to the Vegas chapter of his life. Negreanu wouldn’t stay down, though, saying, “When I hear people say, ‘I can’t do this’ or ‘I can’t do that,’ I say, ‘Oh really? Oh man, do I want to shove this in your face.'”

Negreanu’s ego is also discussed, with “Kid Poker” explaining, “I love nothing more than to be under the lights, be on center stage… Sometimes I say things that do cross the line and on major issues, I have stood alone, but I’d rather be that type of person than someone who has no opinion at all. To avoid criticism, say nothing, do nothing, and be nothing – that’s not the way I live my life.”

The film is entitled “Kid Poker”, but there’s no release date given. Instead, the trailer says the flick is “coming soon.” Watch it here.
