Today’s a good day to play some hockey while setting your NFL lineups for tomorrow. Overlay alert for NFL on StarsDraft. Last week they has a $10 buy in, $150k guarantee contest and it overlaid by almost $30k. This week they kicked the guarantee up to $200k and it is still a $10 buy-in.

10 games on the NHL slate tonight on sites like FanDueland DraftKings with plenty of goals and value to go around. The first team to target is the Tampa Bay Lightning facing the Buffalo Sabres. Buffalo is better than they used to be, but they still suck and Tampa Bay has the highest team total on the board.

I like Stamkos from the 1st line as a singleton and he is still too cheap across the industry. If you took him on Thursday, he rewarded you with two goals. For GPPs, I like the Triplets line again. They didn’t perform against Dallas and are cheaper now. Also note that Hedman is out, which frees up about 25 minutes of defenseman time to go around. This significantly boosts Stralman and Garrison. Stralman’s price has come up so he isn’t a must play anymore, but his match-up is better and he should get more time on the ice with Hedman out.

The next team to look at is the Penguins vs. Toronto. They have the 2nd highest team total on the board at 3.2, but have yet to score more than two goals this season. To this I say, lol, sample size. There is too much talent on this team. I worry about their coach shaking up his lines soon if things don’t start to turn around and that could come in the middle of this game.

I could see Hornqvist and Kessel switching spots. Crosby hasn’t experienced much chemistry with his new linemate from Toronto and perhaps he will mesh better with Malkin on the 2nd line.

Kessel is known to be moody and this is a revenge game for him. He certainly didn’t agree with the way the Leafs ran things when he played for them last year. I line Kunitz across the industry for his price and time on ice. He is cheap and his only drawback is that he plays on the 2nd power play unit, but that is made up for with his time on the 1st line with Crosby and Kessel.

I see one must-play in cash games here and that’s defensemen Ian Cole at 2.8k. He’s averaging 21.6 minutes on the ice, skates next to Letang, and spends time on the 2nd power play unit.

Third on the list is Chicago vs. Columbus. Bickell is the next in line to try and fill the gap left by Saad’s trade on Chicago’s top line with Toews and Hossa. The only of these guys I would touch tonight is Saad, who skates for Columbus now.

I really like Chicago’s 2nd line though. Kane (7.6k) has been the focal point of this offense and skates with two excellent punt plays in Panarin (4.4k) and Anisimov (3.6k). The latter dudes skate on the 2nd power play and I like them all. I also like Keith (4.9k) and Seabrook (3.8k) playing defense.

Next we have the Islanders vs. the Sharks playing the 2nd of a back-to-back. The problem with the Islanders is predicting where the production will come from. I like the top line with Lee, Tavares, and Strome, but according to DraftKingsthey all play center. Strome was promoted to the top power play unit last game. They just dont spend enough time on the ice for me though at their price and there are a lot of mouths to feed on this offense.

I’d rather target Washington vs. Carolina or Montreal vs. Detroit. I like both of their top lines, as they spend a lot of time on the ice and all skate together on the top power play line. I really like Oshie (5.2k) skating between Ovechkin and Kuznetsov. Subban and Markov make excellent plays at defense. They make a nice pairing in GPPs since they are always together on the ice including time on the 1st power play unit. John Carlson is too cheap on FanDuel.

Minding the net tonight, Ben Bishop (7.6k) is the clear play to me in cash games facing Buffalo. I don’t expect him to face many shots, though, so I’ll be looking toward Price (8.4k), Holtby (8k), Fleury (7.7k), Crawford (7.5k), and Halak (7k) for GPPs.

Look tonight and in the morning for a NFL injury report from Tom West and a NASCAR preview from yours truly right here at PocketFives.
