Today is Free Money Tuesday and NHL contests are bigger than usual around the industry. My head-to-head matchups are being scooped up by new players. DraftKingshas a $3, $20, and $100 Light the Lamp contest. I’m personally going to try and win each one at least five times. Tonight is an interesting night for GPPs and a few things stick out to me. Join me over at DraftKings.

The Islanders are the only team with a total over three. I love Lee, Tavares, and Strome from the top line. Strome has been playing well and has earned his promotion, recently getting bumped to the 1st power play unit as well. Him and Lee are cheap around the industry. Tavares is the top option on the night but expensive.

I love the trio for GPPs, but on DraftKings all three are centers for some reason. This makes it really hard to fit the three of them with another stacked line since we can only have three centers in a lineup. Leddy and Boychuk are interesting options on defense. They skate together all game and on the 2nd power play unit.

Next on the list is the fast-paced Stars. Their odds and total have climbed since it was announced that Mason would get the start over Neuvirth. Mason is the better goalie, but he’s been dealing with a personal issue and has been out for a week. He got lit up in his last outing and said the personal issue was on his mind and bothering him.

Benn, Seguin, and Sharp compose the most lethal line in the NHL for the Stars. I like Sharp the best of them at his price tag, which is lower than it should be. My favorite sneaky line for GPPs is the 3rd line for the Stars of Janmark, Eakin, and Hemsky. They are all cheap and all skate together on the 2nd power play unit as well. I expect Philly’s top line to match up with Spezza’s line, while Wayne Simmonds spends the entire night in Seguin’s face.

This leaves the Eakin line Gagner, Laughton, and Schenn. I like it. Also note that I like the top Philly line with Raffl, Giroux, and Voracek. I like their matchup against the Spezza line. If I’m wrong and they go against Benn and Seguin, they’re going to get skated out of the arena, but I think Coach Hakstol knows this too. I could see this game going 5-4 Dallas.

Pittsburgh is a dumpster fire after six games this season. They opened as the biggest favorite on the slate at -156 yesterday, but they’re down to -143 already and all they’ve done is re-arrange their lines again. Sprong has to stay in Canada due to a visa issue. Porter came down from the 2nd line to take his spot, Malkin came down from the 1st to his spot, and Kunitz got promoted back to the top line and 1st power play unit. Crosby and Kessel remain together on the top line and Hornqvist drops to the 2nd power play unit. I think Kunitz benefits the most here and I like him in all formats.

The last team of note is the Canadiens. They are off to a great start this season. They are deep and their production is hard to predict. Markov ($4,500) is my favorite option here, as he skates 25 minutes a game next to Subban and is really cheap. I like the top line of Pacioretty, Plekanec, and Gallagher, but I wish they had more time on the ice. I’d rather save $1,900 and target the Giroux line from Philly instead.

I’m mostly fading the Arizona at New Jersey game. The total is under five and nothing really sticks out to me. Defensemen Schlemko and Severson skate together and on the 1st power play unit, so I’ll have that pair somewhere. I’m interested in Cammalleri, Henrique, and Senpniak.

I’m really fading the Tampa Bay at Nashville game. They’re both excellent teams and both have excellent goalies. Hedman returns for Tampa Bay tonight and this game could easily go 2-1. Bishop and Rinne are unconfirmed right now though, so if either backup plays, things will change.

I like the Capitals at Flames. It looks like there is some fantasy goodness there.

In the net, I feel really drawn to paying the Price at $8,400. I don’t want Bishop or Rinne facing each other and Holtby at $8,000 is interesting, but he’s on the road and it’s only $400 more for Price. Halak is my favorite play at $7,000, but I’m running Price in cash and lots of GPPs.

Have fun tonight watching hockey. I especially recommend the Canadian channels. I am entertained with their commercials.
