Will Kansas carry someone to a DraftKings college basketball title?

Starting Thursday, college basketball’s big dance begins: the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. Many people will feign illness on Thursday just to be able to watch the non-stop action. Over on DraftKings, plenty of drama will unfold for the series’ first two weekends.

That’s because starting Thursday, DraftKings is running a College Basketball Mania Survivor Series. Two tournaments will take place on DraftKings, the first of which is the $200,000 Cinderella Survivor. It has a $200,000 guaranteed prize pool and a $25,000 first place prize for a $20 entry.

In the $200,000 Cinderella Survivor, up to 11,494 lineups will be entered and the top 5,000 will advance to Friday. Then, the top 2,500 from Friday will move on to Saturday. Then, the top 500 on Saturday will compete for a $25,000 first place prize on Sunday. Anyone who makes Saturday’s tournament will get paid at least $30.

Players will draft new teams every day during the four-day slate, and the $20 entry fee covers a person for the entire time they’re in it.

One week later starting March 24, a $150,000 Blue Chip Survivor will begin. This game has a $300 buy-in and will have up to 555 lineups in the field. The top 125 lineups on Thursday, March 24 will advance to Friday. Then, the top 25 lineups from Friday will compete on Saturday and Sunday in a multi-day slate for a top prize of $25,000. Anyone who makes it past Friday will finish in the money and get at least $500.

Both the Cinderella Survivor and Blue Chip Survivor are open for registration in the DraftKings College Basketball lobby. At the time of writing, there are 700 lineups entered in the Cinderella Survivor and 21 entered in the Blue Chip Survivor. There are also plenty of super satellites if your bankroll isn’t quite up to snuff.

Anyone who advances from one day to the next during the Survivor Series will be awarded a ticket to the next round. Anyone who forgets to fill out their lineup before the lock on a given day will take a zero (oops). Tiebreakers are based on the highest scoring non-matching player.
