In the final days of October, Denmark’s DSRasmussencame away with a second place finish in a $215 PartyPoker Pokerfest tournament. The event drew over 1,600 players and the Dane’s runner-up showing was worth $37,000. 2011 marked the very first installment of Pokerfest, which came your way on one of the industry’s longstanding sites. PocketFives.com caught up with DSRasmussen to talk about his largest tracked cash to date.

Many poker players reading this article are quite familiar with tournament series like the WCOOP and SCOOP on PokerStars. We asked the Danish pro to compare Pokerfest with tournaments held on PokerStars during that site’s multi-week series: “The fields are a lot smaller and pretty soft, but there are still a lot of good players, like most Sundays. I don’t think the structure is as good as in WCOOP tournaments though.” He added that in WCOOP tournaments, there are more levels added than those run as part of Pokerfest.

He entered heads-up play facing a 5:1 chip deficit and admitted that he didn’t have any intentions to ask for a chop. He ended up falling heads-up to PartyPoker player Timaxxl, who walked away with $68,000 for first place. The top six players received at least $10,000.

Denmarkis a gold mine for poker players. In fact, the list of pros that hail from the European country includes the likes of Gus Hansen, Theo Jorgensen, and former WSOP Main Event champion Peter Eastgate (pictured).

DSRasmussen’s foray into online poker began after he caught the WPT on Danish television and entered freerolls. He admitted, “I always liked the thrill of gambling. I think it’s fun.” Don’t we all?

He’s played professionally for the last four years and, since joining PocketFives in 2009, has compiled 352 tracked cashes at an average haul of $1,304 apiece. Some of his hallmark in the money finishes include a win in the Titan Poker $35,000 Guaranteed High Roller Mondayon the last day of October for $15,000 and a win in the PartyPoker $30,000 Guaranteed Super Tuesday Rebuy for $12,000 in mid-September.

He can currently be found at #436 worldwide in the PocketFives Online Poker Rankingsand is 11th in the Sortable Rankingsfor Denmark. DSRasmussen is just a few scores away from recording his $500,000 cash badge and currently stands at $453,000, about half of which has come on PartyPoker.
