The 2011 PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker, or WCOOP, rolled on in recent days. The ninth event, which spanned two days’ time, saw Romania’s extasyman(pictured) come away with the win in a $1,050 No Limit Hold’em tournament for $216,000. A total of 1,237 players turned out, with 65 surviving to see Day 2 on Wednesday. Visit PokerStars, the world’s largest online poker room, for more details on the ongoing WCOOP as well as a complete schedule.

The $216,000 haul was the largest that extasyman has recorded for PocketFives.com, trumping a cash of $85,000 that came as a result of winning the PokerStars $100 Rebuy in February. The Zalau resident took home a Full Tilt Online Poker Series jersey late last year and now adds a WCOOP bracelet to his repertoire.

Second place in the $1,050 No Limit Hold’em tournament belonged to Shafeman, while the third place honors went to Team PokerStars Pro member Pat TorontoToroPezzin (pictured). His showing was worth $117,000, which was, for Pezzin, his largest tracked cash on our site. Pezzin calls Toronto home and sits in 32nd in the PocketFives Sortable Rankings for the Canadian city.

Seventh place in WCOOP Event #9 belonged to the United Kingdom’s Dean dean23pricePrice. The 83rd player in the PocketFives Poker Rankings, Price collected $37,000, or 37 times his buy-in. He finished just ahead of Poland’s wykrecony69, who pulled in $14,000 for ninth place. Price was up 10 spots this week in the Rankings and is in 11th in the U.K.
