The PokerStars.fr Night on Starsis a €100 buy-in, €40 000 guaranteed tournament. For PocketFiver Rob rtinnionTinnion, a win in it after selling shares to friends meant an 8,000% ROI and one-third of a PocketFives Triple Crown. He admitted, “It feels pretty good. Over the last few months, working hard has been really starting to pay off.”

The Night on Stars was the largest cash PocketFives has tracked for Tinnion at $11,000. He told us about the day leading up to his landmark score: “It was a pretty terrible Sunday and I was looking for something to punt, so I sold some percentage in a Skype chat and ran like god. It was my first time playing that specific tournament, so it feels good to be undefeated in it with an 8,000% ROI.”

When people hear about PokerStars.fr, they sometimes assume the site is pretty soft. However, is that really the case? After a big win on PokerStars.fr, we asked Tinnion that same question. He commented, “For the most part, it is soft. Once you start moving up in stakes, you encounter a lot more of the usual dot-com regs, so you need to start making more adjustments.” He won two other tournaments besides the Night on Stars for his first PocketFives Triple Crown.

Tinnion is the top-ranked player in the county of Somerset in England and sits at #433 worldwide in the PocketFives Poker Rankings. He told us that he got started in poker after his brother introduced it to him when he was starting college. He noted, “I fell in love with the game. I have been playing full-time for almost two years now, although the early stages could barely be classed as full-time.”

He had been getting his degree and looking for jobs in the real world, but the freedom poker offered was too appealing to pass up. He has a degree in Motorsport Technology and had been looking to get into that field. “I was unable to find anything that appealed to me more than poker,” he admitted. “Right now, I am focused on trying to get as far as possible in this industry and using it as a stepping stone for bigger things later in life.”

Pocarr, which has helped Tinnion improve his game, backs him. PocketFives Training instructor Alex AssassinatoFitzgerald (pictured) is a resident at the site and Tinnion commented on the influence Fitzgerald has had on his game: “Less than one week before I got the Triple Crown, Alex did a webinar with one of my hand histories about plugging leaks.” You can sign up for PocketFives Training by clicking here and learn from some of the MTT world’s top minds like Fitzgerald.

A Triple Crown requires a player to win three $10,000 prize pool tournaments across three sites tracked for the PocketFives Rankings within seven days. We have awarded 139 of them this year and a baker’s dozen this month alone. Here’s a tip from Tinnion in case you’re interested in getting your own: “Working on your game is just as, if not more important than, playing in some respects. Also, manage game selection across multiple sites to give you the best chance. Finally, start really pushing the volume once you have the first one or two scores locked up.”

He wanted to thank Fitzgerald and Adam Squee451 Sherman, telling us, “Without these guys, I wouldn’t be getting anywhere in poker.”

Congrats to Tinnion and all of our former Triple Crown winners.
