To get a Triple Crownhere on PocketFives, a player needs to win three $10,000 prize pool tournaments across three sites tracked for the PocketFives Poker Rankingswithin the same seven-day period. It’s definitely a challenge and, despite having 120,000 registered PocketFives members worldwide, we only get about a half-dozen Triple Crown winners each month. In September, the U.K.’s Allan bigal37 Peers (pictured) came away with one in a span of just three days.

On September 27, Peers brought home the bacon in the PokerStars Nightly Fifty Grandfor $12,000. One day later, he was up to his winning ways once again, this time in the PartyPoker $10 Rebuy, which was worth a hair over $3,000. He wrapped up his first Triple Crown on September 29 after taking down the Titan Poker $10,000 Guaranteed Double Stack for $2,700.

“It’s an amazing achievement and means a great deal to me,” Peers responded when asked about his emotions following the Triple Crown win. “It was a big confidence-booster. As soon as I got two wins, I was determined to try to get it. I had missed out a couple of times in the past.”

The third and final victory for his Triple Crown took all of one day to record. He pointed out, “It was weird this time. I got three wins in three days. At times, getting one win is tough enough, so to get it done with a few days to spare was a nice surprise.”

There are 15 registered PocketFives members from the English region of Merseyside, which has over one million residents. We asked him to describe the state of poker in his hometown: “There are a few local casinos, but I don’t bother going to them much. My biggest buddy in poker is Liquid_Eyes, who lives an hour away in Preston. We travel to live tournaments together.” Ryan gutshtallin Welch (pictured), a World Series of Poker bracelet winner, coaches him.

After a friend came back from Las Vegas and bought a poker table, Peers was turned onto the game. He recalled, “My buddy come back from Vegas and said he was getting a poker table. I said I didn’t know how to play and he said, ‘Learn or you’re not coming over.’ While looking after my mom, I began playing sit and gos and buying books. I also sought out training sites and coaches.”

His dad passed away after a battle with cancer and Peers moved in with his mom in 2007. “It’s crazy that poker has been kind to me and helped my mom a lot. It kind of feels like my dad has looked out for me. I never would have played if he were still here today. He’s my poker god and helps me with the flips.” Peers is just a few dollars away from breaking $700,000 in tracked online MTT cashes.

He told us about his future goals in our game: “I want to be the best I can be at poker. I started playing full-time in January. I want to match Welch’s ability and want to constantly get new achievements like my Triple Crown. The next achievement I would like is a $50,000 score.” His largest tracked cash to date is an $18,000 haul for winning the Full Tilt $75,000 Guaranteed two years ago.

The 2012 calendar year is almost through. It has been a lightning-fast year and for Peers, 2012 was his first as a poker pro. He looked back on the last 10 months: “The year has been solid, but not as good as the last three years. I think it’s mentally a challenge being a full-time professional for the first time. My wife is the most important part of being a successful poker player. She takes the highs and lows with me and deserves everything poker gives us.”
