Gags30 Previews WSOP Main Event on PocketFives Podcast

Published on Jul 4th, 2010

This week's PocketFives Podcast features an interview with high stakes multi-table tournament (MTT) specialist Mike Gagliano, known in the online poker world as Gags30. After a three-week stint in Las Vegas for World Series of Poker preliminary events, Gags30 will return to Sin City to compete in the $10,000 WSOP Main Event on July 8th (Day 1D).

Gagliano, currently ranked #57 (PLB: #55, Pro Poll: #52, Last Week: #57) in the world at online tournament play according to PocketFives.com, has seen his online profile surge in 2010 due to the results he's posted at the virtual tables. In January, he took down the Full Tilt Poker $160k Guarantee for $28,900 and followed that up with a runner-up performance in the PokerStars $100k Guaranteed ($300+20 NLHE) for $26,100 in March. On June 13th, Mike final tabled the Stars Sunday 500 major for an even $25,000 (5th place officially).

During this week's call-in, Mike was asked whether his experience from last year's WSOP (which included two cashes in NLHE preliminary events) would be helpful in this year's Main Event run. "Absolutely. When you get deep in these WSOP events, you feel the way people change. People who aren't experienced get nervous and they're afraid to play pots, and just having the experience of going deep... it's really a big help." Although Mike was unsuccessful in WSOP preliminary events during his trip out to the Series last month, his confidence is at a very high level, and he feels his live tournament game has improved through his experience at PokerStars PCA and NAPT events.

This week's interview with two time PocketFives Triple Crown winner Mike Gagliano includes a mix of MTT strategy tips, biography, and listener questions. Click the PLAY link on the PocketFives Front Page to listen to this week's PocketFives Podcast.
