Wednesday marks the play down day of the $50,000 buy-in Poker Player’s Championship at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. Twenty-five players remain and we’re still 10 places away from popping the money bubble. First place is scheduled to make $1.7 million and the top two will earn seven-figure paydays. There are still a few PocketFivers left.

Don Nguyen leads the way entering the tournament’s play down day with a stack of just over 2.0 million. Among the final eliminations of Day 3 was former World Poker Tour Championship winner David Chiu, who went out during 2-7 Triple Draw play on Tuesday at the hands of Bryn BrynKenney Kenney. Chiu wound up with a 10 on the last draw, whereas Kenney found an eight, and Chiu was sent packing. Kenney ended the day in 11th place with a stack of 906,000.

Just before that hand, Kenney sent Erik Sagstrom to the rail during Limit Hold’em. All of the money went in before the flop, with Kenney holding K-2 of diamonds to Sagstrom’s 7-6 of hearts. Kenney hit bottom pair and a flush draw on the flop, but Sagstrom found a seven on the turn to take the lead. In a dramatic finish, Kenney spiked a flush on the river to send Sagstrom packing in the final 40 minutes of Tuesday’s play.

In a battle of former Main Event champions, Joe Hachem had all of his chips in pre-flop during No Limit Hold’em against PokerStarspro Jonathan Duhamel (pictured). Hachem held pocket queens and was ahead against Duhamel’s A-9. Duhamel found a nine on the flop, but wouldn’t get any closer and Hachem doubled. Duhamel ended the day in eighth place with a stack of 1.0 million, while Hachem is in 16th place with 425,000.

PocketFiver Mike goleafsgoehLeah (pictured at top of article) relegated Adam Friedman to the rail in the waning moments of Tuesday’s play to make the play down day with a top 10 stack. Leah hit a set of aces during Pot Limit Omaha, leaving Friedman out in the cold.
