On Sunday, the World Poker Tour‘s stop in Praguewrapped up with a six-handed final table that included PocketFives Traininginstructor and community regular Mike Gags30Gagliano (pictured). The event, sponsored by PartyPoker, saw Marcin Wydrowskicome away with the title and a €325,000 bankroll injection.

A pretty lively thread in the Live Poker forum here on PocketFives followed Gagliano throughout his final table run. Gagliano opened the final table as the short stack and, at one point early, turned in back-to-back 3bets to gain a little momentum. Gagliano then ran into a 5bet pre-flop from Wydrowski and abandoned ship to sink to 2.0 million in chips after starting with 2.3 million.

Luckily for the PocketFiver, Alin Grasuwas eliminated on the second hand of play, but Gagliano suffered a bad beat to follow him out the door in fifth. Tony Chang opened the betting by pushing out 90,000 in chips and Gagliano 3bet to 225,000.Bodo Sbrzesny pushed the price of poker even higher, this time to 475,000, and Chang got out of the way after much deliberation. Gagliano shoved all-in and Sbrzesny looked him up.

When the cards were revealed, Gagliano showed bullets and was up against Sbrzesny’s pocket queens. Chang claimed he folded pocket jacks in the hand and, unfortunately for Gagliano, the flop contained a queen to leave him looking for two outs. No card higher than an eight came out on the turn or river and Gagliano busted in fifth place for €76,000.

Back on PocketFives, posters were gearing up for Gagliano’s final table appearance, with Costa Rica’s AnotherPhil getting the rail started by saying, “That’s my coach, I taught him everything… err… He taught me, never mind.” Gagliano responded to the outpouring of support on Saturday night, posting on PocketFives, “Thanks guys, the support means a lot! Gonna give it my best tomorrow!”

Once the ill-fated flop was dealt in Gagliano’s final hand in Prague, PocketFives Mod tyson219 grieved, “Good run Gags, ul to go out that way.” One PocketFives member from the United Kingdom added, “Unlucky man. Nice run. Keep it up!”

Gagliano is still searching for a signature score on the live poker circuit. He final tabled a $2,500 No Limit Hold’em tournament at this year’s World Series of Poker in Las Vegas for $83,000. Online, he has amassed $1.1 million in tracked cashes on PokerStars, which includes a second place finish in the site’s Sunday 500 in February for $54,000.

Over on PocketFives Training, he’s a featured MTT instructor and recently published Part 7 of his run through a $30 Rebuy. Topics covered in the video include bet sizing, making the final table, isolating, navigating stack sizes, and interpreting bubble ranges. You can check out a free preview of Gagliano’s 30-minute video.

Here were the final table results from WPT Prague. The top 72 players in the re-entry tournament made the money:

1. Marcin Wydrowski – $423,957
