“Greetings to Team Donig!” Those were the closing words from Germany’s oussale, who sat down with PocketFives after a rock solid final weekend of October. First, he final tabled the Winamax Sunday Surpriseunder the screen name LeCacaofor $8,800. He followed that up with an outright win in the PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up for another $102,000.

“I had an unstoppable run this Sunday,” oussale said about the fateful day on the virtual felts of two of the largest online poker rooms out there. “I late registered after two hours for the Sunday Warm-Up and tripled up within a few hands. After that, I chipped up, won flips, and sucked out a few times. When I reached the final table, I was happy I made it, but since I still had lots of tables open, I didn’t think too much about it. I just continued to play my standard game.”

His standard game seemed to work. Nearly 500 players made the money of the Warm-Up that weekend and oussale was the lone one to take home more than $100,000. He defeated ministerborgheads-up in a final table that also included Smecktenand overthetop43.

Speaking on the final table, oussale claimed the three most talented players at it were Smeckten, ministerborg, and overthetop43. However, “because of the stack sizes and position, they couldn’t do too much.” As a result, oussale is on the verge of cracking $2 million in tracked online MTT cashes. He is the fourth ranked player in Germany and #105 worldwide, his highest position ever.

Earlier this year, oussale final tabled a PokerStars SCOOP $2,100 No Limit Hold’em Eight-Maxevent and banked $135,000 officially. “Reaching the final table of a SCOOP high-stakes tournament is a nice score, but finishing fourth was a little bit frustrating,” he admitted.

When asked about his mix of high-stakes games like the SCOOP event and other tournaments out there, oussale responded, “There aren’t too many players who dominate high-stakes games, so it is important to reach a high volume by playing low- and mid-stakes games to decrease the variance.” Accordingly, with the money from his Sunday Warm-Up win, he plans to continue grinding low- and mid-stakes tournaments.

He got into poker originally through a German television program called “TV Total PokerStars Night” (pictured). He explained, “I played satellites for that show on PokerStars, but never had success. But, that was the start of my poker career.”

PokerStars ran qualifiers for the show and oussale noted that players could compete with well-known personalities on the “idiot box” for a $100,000 prize pool. “When I was 18, I wanted to get the $50,000 that you’d get for finishing first on that show,” he recalled. In case you’re wondering, the promotion is still active on PokerStars’ German website.

Finally, he said his friends and family have begun accepting his career as a poker player. The Germany poker community here on PocketFives has nearly 1,600 registered members who have compiled over $133 million in combined tracked cashes. overthetop43, who final tabled the Warm-Up alongside oussale, is the country’s top ranked player with a PLB score of 6,089 points, the only person in Germany to pass 6,000. oussale is about 600 points behind him in fourth place on the German leaderboard.
