Last month, one PocketFiver hit a huge score, as Hungary’s breeth(pictured) came away with a massive $213,000 payday in the PokerStars Sunday Million. There were over 8,300 entrants in the Million that week and the tournament ended in a five-way chop. When the dust settled, breeth was the only person to walk with over $200,000 and told us rather bluntly, “I’m pretty happy about that.” That’s an understatement!

A five-way chop is quite difficult to orchestrate and rather unique in that sense, so we asked breeth to break down how it transpired: “I felt I had control at the table, so I thought I wouldn’t take the ICM numbers, but I would make a deal if they gave me some extra money because they were non-professionals.” It was his largest tracked online poker score to date, passing a Sunday Million win in late 2008 that was officially good for slightly less than $200,000.

What does a big pro like breeth plan to do with his newfound winnings? After all, he is just $122,000 shy of $5 million in tracked scores. “I’m not planning on anything big,” breeth told us. “I don’t have big needs. It makes me happier if I can support my family, so I will do that.” What did his family think, by the way? “They were very impressed,” breeth said. “Even though I’ve had good scores in the past, my father railed me from 60 players on.”

breeth plays as twirlproon PokerStars, where he has $3.1 million in tracked winnings, and could be considered somewhat of a celebrity in his homeland, where he is the top-ranked player. “I always try not to be a celebrity in the mainstream media, but it always feels good when I get positive feedback from the poker scene,” he explained. He lives in Budapest, where he is one of 138 PocketFivers with PLB scores.

What kind of media exposure does breeth get in Hungary (pictured)? Are newspapers pounding on his door for an interview or is the frenzy largely quiet? He told us, “In the past, there have been a lot of interviews, but I try to avoid those now. There were some articles about me by mainstream media on the internet in the last couple of days, but that’s all. Poker is kind of popular here, but for people to accept it as a profession is still pretty far off.” There are nearly 1,400 registered PocketFivers from the Hungary poker community.

As we said, breeth won the Sunday Million six years ago, so we asked him to compare the two victories. Was one more special than the other? He responded, “Both were big, but the first was bigger for me. It’s probably because when you accomplish something for the first time, it’s always a totally new feeling.”

Away from poker, breeth spends time with friends and family. He also dabbles in sports and said, “Now, I can balance my life and poker better than at the start of my career.” It has certainly worked, as he made it all the way to #3 worldwide on PocketFives. He currently stands at #23.
