Congratulations, you have either qualified through the first three steps of the 888poker World Series of Poker Main Event satellite program, or you are ready to get your journey started at Step 4. The $5 step marks a jump from the previous step of $1 and is the last step of relatively small proportions before the $30 Step 5.

Similar to Steps 2 and 3, Step 4 has an improved structure over the step that came before it. Entrants in this step have 2,500 chips to work with and eight minute blind levels. One out of every six entrants earn a spot in Step 5 but unlike some of the previous steps, there are zero rebuys allowed.

A lot of the advice featured in this space from 888poker team pros has focused on how to play optimally on the bubble, and that trend continues with Bruno Kawauti providing his thoughts on the subject. If Kawauti’s name sounds familiar, it is because the Brazilian professional came close to becoming the first from his country to make the Main Event final table in 2013, when he bowed out in 15th place.

“The biggest mistakes that people make are trying to win the tournament. Watch the stacks at other tables and figure out who is short stacked, who is playing more crazy. You don’t need to go for it in close decisions. Fold aces in a regular spot if it means making the top-10. With a big stack, you can put pressure on other players,” said Kawauti.

Kawauti is also a proponent of evaluating the different types of structures on 888poker and figuring out which one might be best for your specific playing style. Bankroll-wise, Kawauti points out that anyone with $55 in their bankroll should start at Step 4 and see where they go from there.

Fellow 888poker team pro Nicolau Villa-Lobosagrees with Kawauti about the importance of keeping tabs on the lobby and seeing where other stacks in the field stand near the bubble.

“Be alert on the lobby and check the other player’s stacks compared to yours when approaching the bubble, and regarding that, you will have to fold some very good hands,” said Villa-Lobos.

Few, if any, online poker websites run a satellite series that offer player of literally any bankroll to qualify for the main event and 888poker team pro and former PocketFives #1 ranked player Chris ‘moorman1’ Moorman commends 888poker for their willingness to offer this type of program.

“I think the steps on 888 are such a great opportunity to get into the main event at the WSOP. for $5 you can qualify and potentially win $8 million.”

We are almost to the finish line of the 888poker Steps series and up next is Step 5; the same step where a former November Niner started from just one year ago.
