“I moved to Playa del Carmen in January of 2012. It was the best choice I have ever made! There is an amazing group of poker professionals here and I was fortunate enough to meet my fiancée here as well.” Those were the words of PocketFiver Eric Biggs (pictured), who is known on our site as I AmLegend11. They are words you would expect to hear out of a player who chopped the PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up four ways last month and put away $87,000, the largest amount given out. Additionally, he officially booked the win.

“I am extremely grateful to have won the Sunday Warm-Up,” Biggs told PocketFives. “I was beyond words after I had won and it seemed to happen so fast. I put in a lot of volume as a tournament professional. To have earned a first place of this size brought me such joy knowing that all of my hard work over the past few years has paid off. I have dedicated so much time and effort to poker.” He is up to $845,000 in tracked cashes.

The chop saw three other players besides Biggs, including fellow PocketFiver graebsch, come together to formulate a deal. On his rationale for chopping, Biggs said, “Anything can happen when you are four-handed and stacks can change quickly. I had a very good stack to take a deal and was in a great position to guarantee a very substantial prize.” Every player involved in the chop made at least $57,000.

Taking fifth in the Sunday Warm-Up that week, one place out of the chop, was top 10 ranked PocketFiver Brian brianm15 England, who cashed for $29,000. Biggs said of England, “Brian is definitely a respected opponent. He is highly ranked on PocketFives. With his stack size, he definitely ICM’d to a bigger finish.” England has over $3.2 million in tracked MTT scores to his name.

We periodically ask our interview guests where their screen names come from, so a name like I AmLegend11 seemed appropriate. Biggs explained, “I chose the name I AmLegend11 because it was a name I knew I would later fulfill the meaning of. I knew from the start of my career that I had the heart and drive to become a top professional. The number 11 was my soccer number.” He is the 26th ranked player in Mexico and #12 in the poker Mecca of Playa del Carmen.

Biggs is a US transplant now living south of the border in Playa del Carmen (pictured) in order to continue playing online poker. “It was quick and easy,” Biggs said of the move. “After staying here for a few months, I knew I would be living here for a long time to come. It is such a great place!” He is shooting for a wedding at the end of this year and the ceremony will likely take place on the beach against what we can only imagine will be one heck of a backdrop.

In case you’re wondering, here’s how he met his fiancée: “We met on Valentine’s Day night, so this day will always be special to us. One year later, I proposed.” He added, “I want to give a special thanks to Vivi. You are my inspiration. None of this would be possible without your love and support.” That’s touching!

Finally, he wanted to add the following piece of advice to aspiring poker pros out there, so grab a pencil and paper: “Never give up on your dream. It is not always so easy and there will be rough stretches, but you will become a fighter during the process. Always have faith and believe that you will win every single tournament you enter! We believe!”
