Later this year, Chris moorman1Moorman, the most successful player in the history of PocketFives, will release “Moorman’s Book of Poker.” The strategy book from D&B Poker features Moorman’s analysis of over 100 mid-stakes hands from co-author Byron Jacobs, and we’re fairly amazed that Moorman has the time and energy to create the 300-page paperback, which you can pre-order by clicking here. PocketFives caught up with the Brit to talk about his latest claim to fame.

PocketFives: Tell us about finding time to write a poker strategy book, play poker, and have a life, all at the same time. Do you have one of those time-turners from “Harry Potter”?

Chris Moorman: I’ve actually only just started to write the book, although the majority of it I expect to write during the downtime around LAPC and Bay 101. During those events, I’ll be in California and can’t play online poker. I hope to have most of the book written before the next FTOPS and have it fully completed before the WSOP.

It’s pretty much impossible to write the book while grinding online, as I play such long hours the days I do play and don’t want to sacrifice that. For that reason, I’m writing the book while I’m in LA, which will keep me busy while online poker is not regulated.

PocketFives: Tell us why you wanted to write a book in the first place.

Chris Moorman: Because no one else has done a book like this, analyzing a mid-stakes player’s hand histories and showcasing the difference between their actions and players at the top level. I’m sure that people who buy this book will be able to reach the next level in their game, advancing their way of thinking and ultimately producing more consistent results.

PocketFives: Who is the book designed for and how did you find hands to talk about?

Chris Moorman: The book is designed for anyone who wants to improve. Byron, who is co-writing the book with me, is a mid-stakes grinder and he is sending me hands that he has played recently. I will then analyze those, give my thoughts on his decisions, and talk about alternative ways in which he could have played the hands.

PocketFives: You just recorded your 20th PocketFives Triple Crown, extending your own record. You are inhuman, according to many sources. Talk about your propensity to complete so many Triple Crowns?

Chris Moorman: Once I obtain one or two legs of a Triple Crown, I put a lot of effort into completing the trio of wins. I find that although I have won a Triple Crown many times before, they are still very special to me and I would like to get as many as possible. I’m close to #21 this week after I just missed out by a couple of hours last Sunday, so watch this space!

PocketFives: We’re excited for you to get your 21st Triple Crown! Finally, give us your thoughts on the 2014 WSOP schedule, which we know you’re looking forward to.

Chris Moorman: It feels like it was just last year’s WSOP. However, I’m very excited by it all. I’m particularly looking forward to the $25K Mixed-Max event at the beginning of the series. I made the money in its much smaller sister event ($3K buy-in) last year, but am looking to go a bit further this time. Obviously, with the format of the tournament and the high buy-in, the field will be much tougher this time. This year, I feel great about my chances and would love to finally go all the way, hopefully using the British rail as an inspiration to pick up my first bracelet.
