According to HighStakesDB, the 2013 calendar year, although only a few days old, has been mighty kind to Viktor Blom (pictured), better known in online poker circles as Isildur1. Just how lucrative has Blom’s new year been? On January 3, Blom added nearly $700,000 to his bankroll to shoot up to $1.1 million in profit in the first three days of 2013. That’s nearly $400,000 per day.

According to the same news outlet, Blom squared off against Scott mastrblastrSeiver in 2-7 Triple Draw on Full Tilt Poker, where Blom is a sponsored pro alongside Tom Dwan and Gus Hansen. The showdown between Blom and Seiver lasted three-and-a-half hours, about the same as a standard football game in the United States, and encompassed 500 hands. When the smoke cleared in the encounter, Blom was up $392,000.

Text found on HighStakesDB pointed out that the Blom/Seiver showdown resulted in a momentum shift for the latter on Full Tilt Poker since its rebirth in January: “Until this point, Seiver had been the second biggest Triple Draw winner since Full Tilt’s re-launch back in November and a considerable winner versus Isildur1.”

Following his Triple Draw encounter with Seiver, Blom headed to the Omaha High-Low tables, where a showdown with SallyWoowas in store. The HighStakesDB folks narrated, “Over the next hour and forty minutes, Blom proved why he is currently up over $1 million at the FLO8 tables since November, as he crushed the high flying SallyWoo for $275,000 in 257 hands.”

HighStakesDB was quick to point out that Blom, a former Swedish native, has won the most money on Full Tilt since the site re-launched in early November, $1.56 million. HighStakesDB added, “His switch to the limit games seems to have paid dividends, as he is pretty much breakeven in the two games people would normally associate Isildur1 with (NLHE and PLO), with his big winnings coming from FLO8 and 2-7 Triple Draw.”

Despite his success online, you won’t see Blom at this year’s PokerStars Caribbean Adventurein the Bahamas. In 2012, he won the $100,000 Super High Roller Event at the PCA and earned over $1.2 million. According to PokerNews, however, Blom won’t be at the Atlantis Resort and Casino (pictured) this year to defend his title: “Blom will not attempt to defend that title this year. Instead, the Swede will be ‘laying low and playing online’ until the NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship later this month.”
