We’re now one day away from the Main Event of the PokerStarsSpring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP). Over $9 million in guarantees will be on the line tomorrow in three tournaments. In the meantime, PocketFiver JAKoon1985(pictured at right) grabbed $302,000 for taking down the high-stakes version of Event 17, a $2,150 No Limit Hold’em Cubed tournament. PocketFivers went 1-2-3 in the event, as Steven SteveyBallGameMerrifield took second for $218,000 and Frank gator93 Hernandez logged his third top four finish of the inaugural SCOOP series, this time claiming third for $165,000.

JAKoon1985brought home $302,000, one of the largest paydays of SCOOP given out so far and the first six-figure cash of the PocketFiver’s career. One month ago, he won the $1K Monday on Full Tilt Pokerfor $93,000. A week later, he finished second in The Sunday Brawl for $57,000, capping a lucrative March for the West Virginia native. All told, he took home $167,000 in tournaments that are tracked for the Online Poker Rankings last month and has nearly doubled that number just 11 days into April.

Steven SteveyBallGameMerrifield took second in the high-stakes version of Event 17 for $218,000. Merrifield also hails from West Virginia and is a former winner of the weekly $750,000 Guaranteed on Full Tilt Poker, a tournament he took down on March 8th for $140,000. Frank gator93Hernandez (pictured at left) won the 12th SCOOP event for $57,000. The very next day, he was up to his winning ways once again, taking fourth in the $5,200 No Limit Hold’em Six-Max SCOOP Event (#14) for $132,000. Hernandez was the very first PocketFives.com Open champion and has proven that four years later, he still has what it takes to compete at the highest levels in poker.

The mid-stakes version of Event 17 sported a $215 buy-in and featured a clash of PocketFivers heads-up. Las Vegas native wh00seldefeated Randal RandALLin Flowers (pictured at right) to win $139,000, the largest cash of his online poker career. In February, wh00sel won the Super Tuesday on PokerStars for $66,000. To close out the month of March, he notched a victory in the Full Tilt Poker $100 rebuy and a runner up showing in the PokerStars $100 rebuy for a combined total of nearly $50,000. Flowers took third in the latter tournament on April Fool’s Day for $16,000 and tacked on another $104,000 in earnings by virtue of his third place showing on Friday.

Rob Chosen WunKahlon grabbed a win in the low-stakes edition of Event 17, which had a buy-in of $22. He grabbed $66,000 for his efforts, adding to his already impressive tournament resume that includes a runner up showing in the $100 buy-in $150,000 Guaranteed on PokerStars for $31,000 in February as well as a fifth place finish in the Stars Sunday 500 for $27,000 on March 1st. Brandon BrandonPLLeeds (pictured at left) took second in the same SCOOP tournament on Friday for $44,000. In live play, the PocketFiver from Phoenix finished fifth in the $1,500 Razz event held during the 2008 World Series of Poker (WSOP) for $33,000, a tournament that marked the third bracelet win for Barry barryg1 Greenstein.

Art AJB444Beauchamp was up to his winning ways again, this time taking down the low-stakes version of Event 18, a Limit Omaha High-Low tournament. He earned $20,000 for the win, which came just a few days removed from finishing second in the $22 buy-in Razz event (#13) for nearly $7,000. Beauchamp defeated Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi heads-up on Friday. In the mid-stakes installment of Event 18, PocketFiver Foaming_Homer took third for $25,000, the largest cash of his online poker career.

The $5,200 buy-in high-stakes edition of Event 18 saw cpfactorand Anders Donald Berg finish second and third, respectively. cpfactor grabbed 47th in the Main Event of the 2008 PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) for $18,000 and banked $82,000 for his runner up finish in the SCOOP event. Berg makes his home in Norway and finished 12th in the $215 Pot Limit Omaha Cubed event held during the 2008 WCOOP for $5,000. In Event 18, Berg added $61,000 to the GDP of the Scandinavian country.

California PocketFiver jmonnettwas the champion of the $3,150 buy-in high-stakes installment of Event 16. The Seven Card Stud tournament’s winner finished sixth in the $40,000 Guaranteed on Full Tilt Poker last May for $6,000 and also has a win in the PokerStars $11 rebuy to his name. Chris indariva Tryba finished in third in the same tournament for $22,000. In December, he took third in the $150 rebuy on Full Tilt for $26,000. Two weeks ago, he was the runner up in the $110 buy-in $30,000 Super Turbo Guarantee on Full Tilt Poker for over $7,000.

Finally, what would a SCOOP recap article be without mentioning Chris SLOPPYKLOD Klodnicki (pictured at right)? His win in the $425 buy-in mid-stakes Eight Game Mixed SCOOP Event (#15) was worth $33,000. Klodnicki won the $100 buy-in $150,000 Guaranteed for $34,000 and also took down the Super Tuesday on PokerStars for $78,000. He finished 12th in the 2008 WSOP Main Event for $591,000 and took second in the $1,500 Razz tournament to Greenstein for $97,000. He’ll have the chance to record his first bracelet when the tournament series kicks off at the Rio on May 26th.
