It’s always nice to have your poker results get off a to great start in a new calendar year. That was certainly the case for a number of PocketFivers that logged on to 888poker in January to take down their share of tournaments and get 2019 off on the right foot.
January’s big winner on 888poker was the UK’s James ‘jamex’ Walsh who leveraged 24 total cashes into $21,347 in total earnings. He started the year off with a runner-up finish in the $10,000 Monsoon for $1,600 on New Year’s Day. However, it was his second place finish in the January 13 edition of the $100,000 Mega Deep for $14,500 that proved to be his biggest score of the month.
In total Walsh had four podium finishes out of his seven final tables. He currently sits less than $8,000 away from topping $1.3 million in lifetime scores.
The worldwide #31-ranked player Jonatan ‘Pot4teUS’ Hellman took second on 888poker in January. The Swedish crusher cashed 18 times in the month, four of which were for four-figures. The highlight of Hellman’s month on the site was his victory in the January 21 edition of the $12,000 Mega Deep for $3,355. In total, Hellman, who plays under the screen name ‘Namlleh’, won $13,441 in January as he put in more volume on the site than he had since September 2018.
Germany’s ‘Resilience32’ also had a nice start to the year on 888poker, taking third on the winner’s list. He scored three four-figure scores in the month with his third-place finish in the January 27 edition of the $33 Sunday BIG Fish for $3,914 as his largest. He took home $10,970 in January which is a big part of his $188,000 lifetime total earnings.
‘Resilience32’ joined PocketFives as recently as September 2018 and currently sits as the #5-ranked player in Germany.
888poker Top 10 Earners of January 2019
This is the second month in a row that Russia’s ‘Neverhood007’ tops the list of players who finished in the money. The small stakes grinder, who plays as ‘Ufolddonk’, put in an incredible amount of volume on 888poker and cashed for an impressive 115 times in January. That’s up from his December total number of cashes of 105. In total, ‘Neverhood007’ earned $3,150, pushing his lifetime career total to just over $143,000.
Longtime PocketFiver Stephen ‘sizzlinbetta’ Reynolds racked up 77 cashes in January for a total of $1,686 to sit in second place on the list. Reynolds grinds the small stakes nowadays but he has over $2.3 million in lifetime career earnings and while many of his recent scores are under $10, he does have a six-figure score on his resume. Of his 77 cashes, four were for outright victories including taking down the $1,000 Guaranteed FRENZY R&A for $205.
Jeferson ‘JefersonLA’ Luiz Aissa cashed 75 times in the month for $1,650, pushing his lifetime total to over $50,000. Aissa, who is coming up on his one year anniversary on PocketFives in May, puts in most of his volume on 888poker. He booked three wins in three days from January 23-25 taking down the $1K Deepstack for $218, the $1K Turbo Deep for $196 and the 8-Max Mini Starfish for another $149.

There was a bit of a bottleneck at the top of the leaderboard for most wins in January.
The runaway leader was ‘MaxBMM’ who took down nine total tournaments en route to earning $7,493. He started off the year with four victories in the first week alone, his spotlight tournament coming on January 7 when he won the $2,000 Guaranteed Deep Stack for $712.
Right behind him, five different players picked up six victories. ‘Johnyk311’ and ‘BLaaZeKuSH’ were joined by ‘Fisherman101’, who took second on this list last month, and ‘Neverhood007’, who topped the most cashes list.
