“I don’t know if people play differently against me, but I do know that when I’m in a showdown with somebody, one-on-one, they clearly think about it longer. I guess they’re figuring, ‘Well, I get a story out of it either way.'” Those were words penned by “Seinfeld” star and poker enthusiast Jason Alexander (pictured) in a blog from last week detailing his exit from the 2013 World Series of Poker Main Event and his thoughts on the game in general. Alexander busted on Day 1 this time around.

InterPokerhas been securely dealing cards since 2002. The recently re-launched site offers a wide array of promotionslike $10 cash free for new players as well as a 25K race for SnG players. WSOP qualifiers are also running now. Check out the new and improved InterPoker.

Alexander’s blog began by talking about the various interviews he undergoes before playing poker. He’s a celebrity in the mainstream world and, as such, attracts a considerable amount of attention. He admitted, “Who do I fear? Everyone. Everyone can beat me. All they need is experience, guts, and, oh, cards. Let’s just take our seats.”

Alexander added that he often hears a tidal wave of “Seinfeld” quotes wherever he goes, which is I suppose what you’d expect for a show that spanned nearly a decade and earned Alexander worldwide fame. He explained, “None of the talking bothers me, though. If people open up to me, I can learn things about them and their approach to the game, so selfishly, that gives me an advantage. But much of the time, I just enjoy getting to know people.” He said he has become friends with former Main Event champions Greg Raymer and Joe Hachem.

Part of the reason Alexander enjoys poker is the ability to interact with many different realms of society. As he put it, “One of the reasons I love acting is because I’m so interested in other people’s lives, and I often incorporate things I hear or observe into my work. I’ve become a bit of a ‘person addict,’ and so I like brushing up against lots of different characters.”

The Main Event makes for all sorts of memorable stories. In 2008, a quad aces versus royal flush hand occurred at a table with Ray Romano (pictured), although the “Everybody Loves Raymond” actor was merely a bystander. Alexander, like Romano, can have a target on his back just by virtue of his celebrity status: “It’s obvious that people want to be able to say, ‘I took Jason Alexander out.’ I’m not sure why that’s such a badge of honor because I’m not a poker pro; it’s not like people can’t beat me. But if they do, they get to say a name that’s recognizable.”

After describing a run-in with a pro that involved the latter “[laying]into me for about an hour” after a bad beat, Alexander detailed a match against Huck Seedin the National Heads-Up Poker Championship in 2008. After telling Seed that he was going to be a little animated because “everyone was expecting [him] to put on a show,” Alexander told the poker pro, “If anything I’m doing today annoys you, say something or give me a sign and I will shut it down.’ He said, ‘You would really do that?’ And I said, ‘Absolutely.'”

Alexander closed by describing his brief 2013 Main Event run and saying of his future poker goals, “I am sponsored by a good company [PokerStars] and want to do well by them. Poker is just a hobby I’m passionate about. It’s not supposed to bring glory. But oh, that damned dream.”

Alexander has never cashed in the Main Event. According to the Hendon Mob, he has not made the money of a major live tournament in three years.
