Twelve players remain in the hunt for the $548,000 top prize in the World Poker Tour’s (WPT) Foxwoods World Poker Finals. Among those who survived to see Monday’s play down day is Jason treysfull21Mercier (pictured), a sponsored pro of PokerStars. Mercier will hold the tenth largest stack when play resumes this afternoon at 322,000 and would have had more if not for a late setback against Besnik Ziba. His opponent 3bet all-in on a flop of 8-6-2 and Mercier got out of the way. Ziba let Mercier see one hole card and the PocketFives.com member called it as being a jack; Ziba ultimately flashed pocket jacks.

Hands between Tom Marchese and DoylesRoompro Hoyt Corkins (pictured) were the talk of the town on Sunday. In fact, a monster pot between the two resulted in Marchese holding 1.8 million in chips, double the second place stack of 979,000 belonging to PocketFives.com member Jeff jp4estForrest. An Orlando native, Forrest final tabled the Full Tilt Poker$1K Monday in March for $36,000 and took down the UB.com $75,000 Guarantee in June for $20,000.

Mohsin chicagocards1 Charania (pictured) also survived to see the play down day at Foxwoods. Charania ran into the brick wall known as Marchese late in the day after firing out a bet of 87,000 on a board of 10-7-2-Q-K. Marchese moved all-in over the top and Charania ultimately got out of the way, dropping his stack to 290,000. He ended the day at 283,000, the second shortest stack in the field. Following the hand, Charania Tweeted, “Just lost a redic pot to Tom, who always has it apparently down to 300k 14 left.”

Chris Big HuniHunichen (pictured), the chip leader entering Sunday’s play, was eliminated in 16th place for $33,000. Hunichen 3bet all-in on a flop of 6-5-2 with two hearts and flipped over A-6 for top pair. However, Nikolai Yakovenko showed pocket sevens for an overpair and no help was on the way for Hunichen. However, “Big Huni” recorded his first in the money finish on the WPT circuit.

Sorel Imper1umMizzi busted Ronnie Bardah in 17th place to skyrocket up the leaderboard. On his final hand, Bardah ran pocket fours into Mizzi’s cowboys to hit the exit. Mizzi turned a set and dodged a flush draw on the river to rise to nearly 500,000 in chips. The Titan Poker pro ended the day with 788,000, the third largest tally at Foxwoods.

Keven StamdoggStammen (pictured) is also still alive. One week after making a deep run in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit Regional Championship in Hammond, Stammen sits with the seventh largest tally in the World Poker Finals. Stammen doubled up through Bryan theczar19 Piccioli on Sunday with pocket threes against A-K. Stammen flopped a three for a set and Piccioli was drawing dead to the river. Piccioli bowed out in 19th place, but scooped $33,000 for his four-day run.
