Cliff JohnnyBaxJosephy (pictured at right) and Jonathan FatalErrorAguiar finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in the PokerStarsNorth American Poker Tour (NAPT) Mohegan Sun Main Event. The duo will now receive some face time on ESPN2 when the tournament airs on May 10th. A bevy of PocketFives.com members made the money, including 2009 UB.comAruba Poker Classic winner Brandon AreTheseUtz Hall, who finished in ninth place for $47,000 as the final table bubble boy. Let’s check out the results from the NAPT Mohegan Sun Main Event.

Aguiar (pictured at left) was the first player to depart the eight-handed NAPT Mohegan Sun Main Event final table. In his final stand, he was all-in with A-Q against the pocket tens of Michael Woods. The flop came 8-3-2, which was no help to the PocketFives.com member, and a running 4-10 didn’t improve matters. Woods found a set by the time the smoke cleared and Aguiar was bounced in eighth place for $60,000. Online, Aguiar took down the PokerStars Sunday 500 last July for $87,000. Fourteen days later, he was in the winner’s circle of the Full Tilt Poker $100 Cubed for $20,000.
Josephy hit the rail in seventh place. He was all-in pre-flop with A-5 of hearts against Derek Raymond‘s A-9. Both players found an ace on the flop, but Josephy failed to catch up on the turn or river and banked $85,000 for his seventh place showing. Josephy captured a World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet in 2005 in a $1,500 Seven Card Stud event for $192,000. Last year, he finished third in a $1,500 Pot Limit Omaha tournament for $166,000, narrowly missing out on his second bracelet. He’s one of the most esteemed members of the online poker community and sits at #33 worldwide in the PocketFives.com Online Poker Rankings on the strength of the 27th best Pro Poll score.

After taking out Josephy, Raymond exited in sixth place for $115,000. He held A-10 and was all-in pre-flop up against eventual winner Vanessa Selbst‘s (pictured at right) pocket sixes. Raymond added a Broadway straight draw on a K-Q-7 flop, but failed to catch an ace, jack, or 10 on the turn or river. He collected $115,000 for his five-day run in the NAPT Mohegan Sun Main Event. Alistar Melville was the next to go. Melville’s pocket queens could not withstand the A-Q of Mike Beasley after an ace hit on the flop and he pocketed $150,000.

Scott Seiver (pictured at left) finished in fourth place, boosting his bankroll by $190,000. Seiver held a wired pair of fours and was up against Woods’ A-3. However, an ace on the flop left Seiver drawing to two outs on the turn and river. Seiver has banked over $1 million in live poker tournaments since December, according to the Hendon Mob database, on the strength of four five-figure cashes. In December, he won a $5,000 No Limit Hold’em tournament during the Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic for $218,000. In February, he finished fourth in the NAPT High Roller Bounty Shootout for $215,000 and won the L.A. Poker Classic High Roller event for another $425,000.

Woods was bounced in third place after running top pair into a set. On a flop of 9-8-6, Woods was all-in with 10-9 and up against Selbst’s pocket eights. The board filled out A-10 and Woods picked up $240,000. Selbst held a 7:1 advantage in chips entering heads-up play against Beasley and took down the title in a matter of minutes. In the final hand of the NAPT Mohegan Sun Main Event, Beasley’s Q-10 came up short against Selbst’s A-8 all-in pre-flop. Here’s how the final leaderboard looked:

1st Place: Vanessa Selbst – $750,000
2nd Place: Michael Beasley – $428,000
3rd Place: Michael Woods – $240,000
4th Place: Scott Seiver – $190,000
