To say that Lithuania’s Justas (pictured), better known on PocketFives as jusc, has hopped around games would be an understatement. He started off in live casino games. Then, he headed to sit and gos and subsequently moved over to cash games. He then made MTTs his bread and butter before ultimately heading back to the land of cash. Now, he plays MTTs on Sundays and during larger tournament series.

Here’s his version of the story: “I started with live MTTs in local casinos and then tried games online. First, I played sit and gos, but only for a very short period. Then, I played cash games for some time. Then, I switched to MTTs and played those for two years. Now, I have switched back to cash games as well as MTTs on Sundays and during series like SCOOP. I love MTTs. Those are my favorite game for sure, but due to being able to have better ‘office hours’ and family time, I decided to play cash games.” We’re exhausted just typing that quote.

We interviewed Justas after he placed third in the PokerStars Sunday 500 last month and earned $42,000. He told us he felt “pretty good” about it, adding, “Interesting fact: exactly the same Sunday last year, I chopped the Sunday 500 three ways.”

Spooky.

We think he’s a fan of the tournament, which has a $500 buy-in and takes place weekly. He now has over a half-million dollars in tracked MTT scores across all sites.

He told us that the Sunday 500 started off with a bang and he managed to accumulate a sizable stack in the beginning. He added, “The middle stage went okay too. I had around an average stack, but was playing decent poker. I got really short in the final 50 players and basically the whole MTT from there, I was playing really short.”

The final table featured five ranked PocketFivers, including four in the top 600. He reiterated that he was short most of the final table, which made the task of winning quite tough. “I have a decent bankroll, so this score won’t change much in that department,” Justas concluded. “I’m looking forward to SCOOP now and hopefully my good run will continue. It has been damn good for a few months now.”

SCOOP is ongoing at PokerStars, the world’s largest online poker site, and you’ll find Justas mainly in the medium and high events. The series comes to a conclusion in one week and Justas remarked that he believes he has an edge in six-max tournaments: “I really love six-max MTTs. I believe I have a good understanding of those. I believe I can ‘feel’ the dynamics pretty well. I play six-max cash games, which help of course.”

Speaking of six-max events, he final tabled one during last year’s WCOOP for $30,000. His Sunday 500 runner-up finish in April 2012 was officially worth $56,000.

We should point out that our interview subject is from Vilnius, Lithuania and ranked #6 in his home city and #10 in the country. Worldwide, you can find Justas at #625. Lithuania is home to just over 400 registered PocketFivers.
