Late last month, Rasmus Agerskov Larsen (pictured), known as RasAon PocketFives, won the PokerStars Sunday 500 outright for $69,000. The field numbered 776 that day and Larsen booked his third largest tracked score to date.

“I’m feeling great,” he told PocketFives after the fact. “It’s my favorite Sunday tournament, which makes it even sweeter. I think it’s the tournament that’s the most fun to play. It’s deeper than most tournaments, which makes the game more interesting in my opinion. It’s more expensive and therefore you play against more regs you know, which makes the eventual win feel better since you will have beaten all of the good guys.”

The weekend Larsen won, the only other PocketFiver at the final table was Casey bigdogpckt5s Jarzabek, who took sixth place for $15,000. “We didn’t play against each other for that many hands,” Larsen said of Jarzabek. “He got sucked out on really badly with A-A against T-T, so from there on, there wasn’t much for him to do. I ended up busting him in sixth. Obviously, I was glad not only for the extra chips and the money jump, but also for not doubling up one of the most dangerous opponents at the table.”

Last May, Larsen finished third in a SCOOP event for $185,000, his largest cash to date. Seventeen days before his Sunday 500 win, he took down the Thursday Thrill on PokerStars for another $47,000. He said of his recent run, “To be realistic, it’s mostly variance, but being confident in what you’re doing is very important in poker as well. When you believe in your own plays and the way you approach the game, it seems to work out better. But, variance is a tricky thing. Sometimes it makes you feel like the best player ever and other times like the worst player ever.”

We’re almost one-third of the way through 2015. We asked Larsen what he hopes to accomplish for the rest of the year, and in terms of poker, he responded, “As long as I’m enjoying playing and getting good results, I’m happy.”

Outside of poker, he’s looking for a side project. Larsen (pictured) explained, “For several years, I have been thinking about something to do on the side. Not that I don’t do anything; I play football, squash, and whatnot with my friends, but as a poker player you have all the time in the world to study or do whatever you want to do with your life.”

He has worked for a pension fund and for an online football shop in the past, but doesn’t see a future in either industry. He added, “I took some Spanish and psychology lessons too, but mostly for the fun of it in order to use my head for something besides poker.”

For his career, he has $617,000 in live tournament scores to his credit, according to the Hendon Mob, and finished sixth in the EPT Vienna High Roller Event in 2014 for $125,000. He is #30 on the all-time money list for Denmark.

Worldwide in the PocketFives Rankings, you can find Larsen at #56, 16 spots off his all-time high of #40 set earlier this year. He is #3 in Denmark and #2 in the capital city of Copenhagen.
