Magic-Poker is quickly gaining in popularity

The poker app marketplace is a crowded one, but nearly six months after launch, Magic-Poker is already turning heads.

The South Korean-developed app can be downloaded from iTunes for iOS devices and from Google Play for Android devices. Miran Park, the Global Business Head for Minosday, explained that developing an app on multiple operating systems wasn’t a huge issue, but there were other challenges.

“The challenges of game development are no different for any particular OS version,” said Park. “Yet developing an online card game, especially poker, is quite challenging compared to other games. With poker game development, things become challenging when you service different nations with different genres of players. The players’ gaming attitudes change when you cross from one nation to another. As we are servicing multiple nations, it can become difficult to read the minds of all the players and set one standard.”

The app spreads Texas Hold’em and has already been a success in a handful of countries in the little more than half-a-year it has been available, but two markets stand out.”It was released in July 2015 and until now has been successful in attracting poker players from India as well as the USA,” Park explained.

Players who win these events are awarded with rewards vouchers. In February, Magic-Poker will be running an event with a prize pool of $2,000. Every month after that, there will be challenging events with e-vouchers awarded to players.

“Our events offer real rewards vouchers for every winner. In India, many players have won events and claimed rewards up to Rs10000 paytm vouchers,” said Park. “In the USA, players have won rewards up to $3,000, including one player last month. No other smartphone game offers real money vouchers like Magic-Poker.”

In addition to India and the US, most of the rest of the players come from the United Kingdom and Canada. Simple missions help keep users playing and encourage them to recommend Magic-Poker to friends and family.

“To keep users engaged with us, we keep daily in-game missions so players can compete with other players and win rewards from us,” said Park. “Also, there are exclusive weekly events in which we give rewards to our players. The players are always enthusiastic about the events, as they are always unique and exciting. We hold events in which we reward everybody. Therefore, players refer their friends and family to play our game.”
