This week’s Podcast features an interview with two-time WSOP Bracelet winner Bill Chen.

Bill Chen was playing poker on the West Coast back in the days when Texas Holdem was illegal in California card rooms. His proficiency in games such as Lowball, 7-Card Stud, and Omaha allowed him to pay tuition with poker earnings. In one amazing stretch, Bill actually won the same weekly tournament at the Oaks Card Club 7 times in 11 weeks.

Dr. Chen graduated from UC Berkeley in 1999, earning his PhD in Mathematics. His new book titled The Mathematics of Poker is currently available at the PokerStars FPP Store, as well as retail sites such as amazon.com.

In this week’s interview, Bill talks about those early 1990s live games in smoke-filled card rooms. He also discusses his book and provides our listeners with advice on a wide range of games. His two WSOP bracelets came in 2006 (both Texas Holdem tournaments).
