We’re pretty confident that the PokerStars Sunday Warm-Upis the hands-down favorite online poker tournament of matt86ck. Why? The member of the Poland poker community chopped the Warm-Up in back-to-back months in February and March. In February, his second place finish following a heads-up deal was worth $93,000, and in March, he took it down for $100,000 following a three-way deal.

“The first time I chopped the Warm-Up, I had a very aggressive heads-up opponent, but when I lost 8-8 to 4-3 suited, my opponent had more chips, so I made a deal and we played on for $10,000,” matt86ck told PocketFives in an exclusive interview. “The second time, I made a deal only because I was tired and was playing with one unknown player and one regular player, but I had the biggest stack and the chip-chop numbers give me a good prize and a chance at an extra $10,000 if I won.”

There has to be something about the Sunday Warm-Up that has led to so much success for matt86ck, or maybe he’s just running well. Maybe there’s just something in the water in Poland.

matt86ck assessed, “I feel good in this MTT because you have places to play post-flop. In the Sunday Million, you have small places to play post-flop, so you’re more limited. Most of the time, you see only all-ins pre-flop in the Sunday Million because more than 75% of the players have short stacks. Sometimes, you feel like you can do anything in one particular tournament and, for me, it’s the Warm-Up.”

As far as the money, matt86ck told us that “nothing special” is planned, but he may now be able to grind more online and live. He added, “My backer is happy.” matt86ck is up to nearly $800,000 in tracked online MTT cashes in his PocketFives profile and took down the PokerStars Bigger $162 on March 24 for $47,000, defeating a field that nearly passed 2,000 entrants.

Other signature scores for matt86ck include multiple wins in the PokerStars $11 Rebuyin late 2011 and early 2012 as well as final tables in the PokerStars Bigger $109 and $55 Rebuyon the same day in February of last year for nearly $50,000 combined. He is currently #7 in Poland and has over 1,700 tracked in the money finishes to his name.

matt86ck got his start in poker while in college. His first score was $7.50, which took place in a small home game, and he began to play more seriously one-and-a-half years after that.
