Mike 'DarkKnight17' Coombs is the latest player to add his name to the Global Poker Rattlesnake Open leaderboard.

For online poker players in the U.S. and Canada looking to participate in the onslaught of spring poker series, Global Poker’s Rattlesnake Open is in full swing.

Global Poker, the unique online poker site that allows players from the U.S. and Canada to participate using their sweepstakes-based system, has always celebrated those who accept the challenge of going for the gold in their championship events. This week, in Event #12 of the Rattlesnake Games, longtime Global Poker forum contributor and tournament specialist Mike ‘DarkKnight17’ Coombs pulled off a heroic victory taking home SC$3,560 in the process.

“It was great to get the win,” Coombs said. “This is the fourth time I’ve been heads-up for a Series Event. I was 0-3 coming into this so it was awesome to finally close one out.”

Coombs can soon expect a real-life goodie bag to arrive on his doorstep. Not only do champions win a plethora of Global Poker swag but also a massive oversized trophy for their mantle.

“I got it all in with Ace-Ten vs Ace-Two for the win and he spiked a deuce to take the chip lead,” Coombs recalled. Having gotten heads-up three times prior and been regulated to the bridesmaid, this could have easily been another bad beat story in the making. “I was pretty determined not to let this one slip away though and I was able to grind my way back in from and close it out!”

Not only has Coombs found a favorite place to play online poker, but he’s found some super friends as well. He is an active participant in forum conversations about the site. Coombs has also, on occasion written about his experiences on the site on his own personal blog.

Coombs now has his not-so-secret identity of ‘DarkKnight17’ included in the Rattlesnake Open leaderboard, the winner of which will have the opportunity to be freerolled into a live event of their choosing. The player picks the tournament and Global Poker picks up the tab for hotel and travel up to $5,000. Coombs is gunning for that top spot as he’s no stranger to live events. The Global Poker grinder has over $175,000 in live earnings, including a 5th place finish in Even $12 of the 2017 World Series of Poker ($1,500 H.O.R.S.E.).

There’s still an opportunity for all players to make their mark on the Rattlesnake Open. The series continues straight through until the Main Event on May 20. With thousands of Sweeps Cash guaranteed tournaments running every day.

The May 12-13 weekend schedule is packed full of events. In total there is SC$128,000 guaranteed. That means at least $128,000 of real money prizes will be awarded. Be sure to take your shot at a Rattlesnake Open Championship this weekend and perhaps you’ll find yourself a vying for the leaderboard like The Dark Knight and with a little extra cash to spend like Bruce Wayne.

The Main Event of the Rattlesnake Open is set to take place on May 20. There are three levels of buy-in, including the High Event, one of the largest tournaments ever held on Global Poker – the SC$218 $100,000 Guaranteed Deepstack tournament.
