On October 20th, Mike moneyinbagAron (pictured) came away with a victory in the UB.com Sniper $80,000 Guarantee, a weekly tournament that boasted an overlay. Aron banked nearly $20,000 following the win, which saw him defeat online poker legend Eric sheets Haber heads-up. Aron calls Pennsylvania home and has been a contributing member of the PocketFives community for the last four years. We caught up with the new UB.com tournament winner to break down his score.

The UB.com Sniper $80,000 Guarantee didn’t mark Aron’s largest in the money finish to date. However, he told PocketFives.com, “It seems like its been such a long time since I’ve won a non-Turbo MTT, so it definitely felt good winning.” Recent final tables include the PokerStars$50 Rebuy and Full Tilt Poker Sunday Mulligan for a combined haul of $50,000.

Bounty tournaments are sprinkled throughout the weekly schedule on UB.com and the CEREUS Network’s Sniper tournaments offer bounty action at a variety of stakes. On how the bounties affect his decision-making, Aron told PocketFives.com, “I just approached it like any other tournament. I think since you get a bounty, there are spots where you should be calling all-ins a with a few more hands than you normally would, but in general, it doesn’t change much for me.”

Haber (pictured) is one of the legends of the game. He has also made waves in the world of poker backing and the PokerXFactor instructor is an original member of PocketFives.com. On facing off against Haber heads-up, Aron recalled, “I have always had so much respect for sheets in how he carries himself within the community. I used to be a subscriber of PokerXFactor and watched some of his videos, so it definitely feels good to beat a good opponent heads-up. I was the chip leader for most of the final table until we got four-handed. Then, I lost it and was in third. I got back the chip lead three-handed though and maintained it through heads-up play.”

Aron went to Las Vegas for the 2010 World Series of Poker (WSOP) and, upon its conclusion, moved into a house with other members of the online poker community. “I have been really happy with how I have been playing,” Aron assessed. “There have definitely been times where I haven’t felt confident, but that usually occurs during downswings when variance makes you think you are just playing poorly. I think that being around other poker players a majority of the time helps a lot.”

Also helping his confidence are periodic five-figure scores like the one he recorded for winning the Sniper tournament: “They definitely help a lot. It might not actually mean I am playing any better than before, but the money feels good and not being on a downswing definitely helps your confidence. It also makes me want to play a much higher volume.” Also in October, Aron final tabled the PokerStars Hyper Turbo $75,000 Guarantee for $10,000 and the site’s $109 Cubed for $7,300.

Now, his focus remains on online poker, but Aron added that he’d also like to expand his presence at live tournaments: “I want to go to a few live tournaments here and there. But, I plan to really get at it over the next year and play a lot of online poker, so expect me to get into the top of the Online Poker Rankings.” Aron is on the cusp of breaking the top 200 in the Rankings.
