PocketFiver Narcis Narcisus90Nedelcu (pictured) won his second PokerStars Super Tuesday of the year last week. The field for last week’s running was 524 players, so with the $1,000 + $50 entry, the prize pool was $524,000.

After about a standard-length work day, the final table was set, with Nedelcu in the middle of the pack holding 238,582 in chips. Though he was ahead of five of the final nine players, it was going to be an uphill battle for him to come out on top, as he was well behind the chip leaders.

Amit bblacklegendJain had by far the biggest stack, a tower of 850,353 in chips. Flippa42(KaptainKushon PokerStars), in second place, had less than half of that, sitting behind 410,531 in chips. deivid29was in third with 365,868 in chips.

Nedelcu started making his move immediately, when on the first hand of the final table, he eliminated E.D.B.T.ZUK in ninth place, taking his 91,975 plus a few chips from KaptianKush. He let others do some of the dirty work for a while before making a big pre-flop shove with blinds at 4,500/9,000.

It wasn’t incredibly risky, as he was in the small blind and the action had folded to him, but he still risked an 83,576-chip call from deivid29, which he got. Nedelcu had just K-5 and deivid29 had pocket sevens, but Nedelcu flopped two more fives to knock deivid29 out in fifth place.

Jain, who had been basically rampaging through most of the final table, eliminated KaptianKush in fourth place to set up three-handed play. After about 15 minutes, the three remaining players, Jain, Nedelcu, and Gustavo gremistaAK Pinto (pictured), decided to pause the tournament and discuss a chop.

Jain was way ahead with 1,686,716 in chips, Pinto was in second with 584,946, and Nedelcu brought up the rear with 348,338. Jain was willing to go with the ICM-based split even though dividing the prize money based on chip counts would be better for him because of his huge lead. Nedelcu wanted his share to be larger, though, and while Jain put his foot down, Pinto volunteered to give up some money so a deal could be made.

Thus, Jain got $83,653, Pinto received 68,976, and Nedelcu was awarded $66,000, while $8,000 was left on the table as an additional prize for the winner.

After that, Nedelcu hit the gas pedal. He quickly doubled through Jain and then proceeded to win more hands to take the chip lead. The two then got into a raising war pre-flop, resulting in Jain going all-in with A-7 and Nedelcu calling him with pocket nines. An ace flopped to put Jain ahead, but a nine fell on the turn, sending Jain to the rail with a third place finish, but the most prize money.

Going into heads-up play, Nedelcu was way ahead, 2,035,104 to 584,896, and never relinquished the lead. He made relatively quick work of Pinto, finally knocking him out with A-J versus J-7 to win his second Super Tuesday in seven months.

This was Nedelcu’s second-largest cash of his online tournament career. His first was the aforementioned Super Tuesday win in March 2015 in which a healthy $118,845 was deposited into his PokerStars account. All told, he has about $1.1 million in recorded tourney cashes. He currently sits at 60th in the PocketFives Rankings, having been as high as 32nd earlier this year.
