It’s probably pretty unique to have position on #2 ranked Cal cal42688Anderson only to get involved in a major hand with him at the final table of a Sunday Major and come up short. That’s exactly what happened to Przemek Piotrowski, who is known on PocketFives as TranquilMind(pictured, right). It happened at the end of the PokerStars Sunday $109 Rebuy two weeks ago.

“I had position on Cal, which was a blessing, but got involved in a huge hand against him where I made a mistake on the river. I was left with 10 big blinds and lost a cooler.” Our interview subject ultimately departed in fifth place for $21,000, while Anderson exited in second place and walked away with $53,000. The top three players were all members of PocketFives and our community claimed 64% of the prize pool overall. You can see his description of the hand in the comments section below.

He planned to spend some of his winnings during SCOOP, which wrapped up on Monday on PokerStars. Having that opportunity meant squaring off against Anderson, 176th ranked Amtozza, and former 15th ranked player stlouis6, who all made the top three, at the final table of the $109 Rebuy. He recalled, “I really enjoyed playing with all of those superb players. The $109 Rebuy is a really tough tournament and there are so many good regs, but it’s fun and you can learn a lot.” The tournament’s prize pool topped $400,000.

Last October, Piotrowski won the PartyPoker $100,000 Guaranteed High Roller and padded his poker bankroll by $35,000. It’s still the largest cash we have tracked for him and he told us, “Those winnings helped me a lot because until then, I was down $100,000, so it made my mind tranquil.” We’ll pause there so you can groan. Okay, back to his quote: “That score did not change what I was doing that much. I didn’t start playing every $200+ MTT.”

Right after his High Roller win, Piotrowski finished third in the PokerStars Bigger $55 for $22,000. And if all that weren’t enough, two weeks before his High Roller title, he finished second in that same tournament for $16,000.

Our interview subject is the top ranked player in Mazowieckieand is #10 in Poland. He concluded by saying, “I wish to thank all of my friends who believed in me and helped me on so many levels as well as the Poland poker community and my parents. I wish you all the best.”

Speaking of the Polish poker community, there are 542 registered members from the European country who have a combined $35 million in tracked online MTT earnings. Poland players have amassed $8 million in online MTTs in the last three months and have 85,000 tracked in the money finishes lifetime.

By the way, the image at the top of the page has Grekzorbaon the left and Piotrowski on the right. He wanted to let us know that the caption should be, “Never grow up. It’s a trap.” There, we said it, and even made it the title of our article.
