Last September, Ireland’s luckymo32(pictured) finished second in a WCOOP $1,050 No Limit Hold’em event and walked off with over $200,000, his largest tracked cash to date by a factor of more than three. Three days before Christmas, he finished fourth in a WCOOP Challenge $1,050 Pot Limit Omaha Rebuy and earned $63,000. Fast-forward to January, when he won the 888 Poker Sunday Challenge to add another $26,000 to his coffer. We caught up with him to talk about his recent hot streak.

PocketFives: Thanks for joining us. Tell us about your big 888 Sunday Challenge win.

luckymo32: It was fantastic to win the tournament outright. It has a $90 buy-in and a $90 add-on at any time, which I added on straight away. The tournament started off well for me and I was flying from the start. I think I always maintained an above average stack. I remember getting quads at one point, which catapulted me to the top. I also got quads at the final table, which was a bit bizarre. My opponent slow-played A-A and eventually rivered an ace to be beaten by quads.

PocketFives: Do you have any plans for the money?

luckymo32: It will be a big help for my bankroll, as I used the money from my WCOOP finish to buy a house with my girlfriend, which left me very vulnerable in terms of bankroll. I also plan to go to Las Vegas for the first time to play in the World Series of Poker Main Event and a few other tournaments.

PocketFives: Your WCOOP second place finish came last year and was worth over $200,000 officially. What was that experience like?

luckymo32: I think I was in shock for a week. I couldn’t believe I had won $200,000. It was the best experience and achievement ever and it will be very hard to top that experience going forward. It was an amazing feeling.

PocketFives: What’s your new house like?

luckymo32: We were looking to buy a home before that anyway, as we have a baby on the way that is due to be born in a few weeks’ time. That score made a huge difference in the type of house we could afford. It’s in Ashbourne County Meath Ireland. It’s a three-bedroom, semidetached house in a lovely area.

PocketFives: How are you feeling about having a child soon?

luckymo32: I’m nervous, excited, scared, and full of emotions, but for some strange reason when I found out we were going to have a baby, it gave me ambitions to go for it in poker. I also would love to play more live events like EPTs. I’m still not sure how I will manage playing poker, being a dad, and returning to school, but time will tell.

PocketFives: Is there anything else you’d like to add?

luckymo32: I would like to mention my grinding partner BIGMICKG, who has helped me out a lot regarding poker and how to go about it with things like bankroll management. I also want to thank my girlfriend Clara and my parents for putting up with me grinding late at night and all of the ups and downs.
