Olympic Host City Sochi Welcomes partypoker Live Next Week
Just over three years ago, people from around the world had their eyes on Sochi, Russia for the Winter Olympics. Starting Friday, the poker world will be watching the Russian resort town closely as the partypoker LIVE Million Sochi event runs for 10 days.
The 15-event festival is highlighted by the $1,100 buy-in Main Event. Players can play the opening day of the Main Event on partypoker.com this Sunday. Day 1A was March 12. Opening live flights of the Main Event begin March 23 and run through March 25. Earning its name, the event has a $1,000,000 guarantee.
Other events on the schedule include the $550 buy-in Russian Poker Championship. The tournament comes with a $250,000 guarantee and has three starting flights – and yes, players can re-enter.. There’s also a $3,300 buy-in High Roller event and a $220 Open Face Pineapple event.
Some of the world’s best players are on their way to Sochi already, including one of Russia’s best young talents, Anatoly Filatov.
Sochi Casino and Resort
The event is being held at the Sochi Casino and Resort which opened just over two months ago. The world-class property includes a poker club operated by Poker Club Management, a Russian company specializing in organizing tournament and festivals.
Players are encouraged to stay at the attached Sochi Marriott Krasnaya Polyana Hotel which is right next door.
Players from outside of Russia should know that a passport is required to enter and all players must be 18 or older.
