January 24th was a memorable day for veteran PocketFives.com member James P0KERPR033Campbell (pictured). He booked 20 in the money finishes in tournaments tracked by PocketFives.com for $88,000 total. The highlight of the day was a $74,000 haul for taking down the Full Tilt Poker $150,000 Guarantee and outlasting a rock solid final 25 in the process. PocketFives.com caught up with Campbell before last weekend’s grind to rehash his monumental Monday.

A thread in Poker Discussionbroke the word on Campbell’s big day. The original poster, CRUSH41, exclaimed, “I was looking at P0KERPR033’s results because he is third in the Monthly PLB and noticed that he had 20 cashes on Monday January 24th, including $74,000 for a win in FTP $150,000 Guarantee! I know that everyone is playing mad volume because of FTP METs and that big scores are what really matter, but 20 cashes in a day seems crazy! Congrats on the score man!” The thread received nearly 40 responses.

Campbell told PocketFives.com that he even impressed himself: “I knew it was a good day. I kept getting deep and felt good in every tournament I played.” The day’s apex was a win in the Full Tilt $150,000 Guarantee, which saw Campbell outlast top-ranked Taylor taypaur Paur (pictured) heads-up.

On Paur, Campbell assessed, “He’s a beast. His results are unbelievable. He had the chip lead the entire tournament and 6bet me all-in with J-7 when I had two kings. I got control of the table after that and had a pretty big chip lead heads-up. He’s so relentlessly aggressive and constantly 3betting, 4betting, and 5betting, and it’s controlled, which is amazing.”

The top 25 of the $150,000 Guarantee constituted an old school PocketFives.com reunion of sorts. Besides Campbell, the group included Adam RoothlusLevy (pictured), Corwin mig.comMackey, feldliss, tiltyjoker, and Eric sheets Haber, all of whom joined the site in either 2005 or 2006. “I was looking through the names thinking how unbelievable it was,” Campbell recalled. “Of the top 25 left, 15 or so were some of the best tournament poker players in the world. To have all of them down the stretch in a big tournament online was amazing. It was great to come out on top.”

Campbell can be found at #32 worldwide in the PocketFives.com Rankingsand is one of only three community members to have over $5 million in tracked online poker earningsto their name. On top of those accolades, he holds Monthly PLB and Triple Crown titles.

“There have been ups and downs throughout the last six years,” Campbell confessed. “I joined PocketFives.com in 2005, worked for six months, and then played poker. People were bad then at poker, so it wasn’t like I was that good, but everyone was that much worse. Now, it’s just a completely different game. Your Average Joe now is better than I was in 2005 or 2006.”

Campbell is still searching for his signature live score. When we caught up with him, he was camped out at the Borgata for the casino’s $3,500 Winter Poker Open Main Event. To date, his largest live score is $95,000, which came as a result of winning a $3,000 No Limit Hold’em preliminary event during the Foxwoods Mega Stack Challenge VI in 2008.

“I’m still trying on the live scene and it drives me nuts,” Campbell explained from the East Coast casino. “I played two tournaments here at the Borgata. My live run will come. I get my money in good almost all the time; I just haven’t had any luck yet. Eventually, my luck live has to change.”

In October, Campbell final tabled the PokerStars Sunday Second Chance for $52,000. Last May, he was off to the races in a Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) $2,100 No Limit Hold’em tournament for well over $200,000. On adjusting to the ever-changing game, Campbell admitted, “Over the last couple of months, my game is the best it’s ever been. I’ve made the right adjustments. It took a little while and running good also helps. You have to constantly work at it.”
