8th: Pedro Madeira – $100,000

Taking place at Enjoy Conrad Resort & Casino in Punta del Este, Uruguay, the tournament attracted 456 entries. Entering the final day, Silva was third in chips but bunched among a group of four sitting behind chip leader Daniel Rezaei. Also reaching the final table was Dzmitry Urbanovich.

According to event coverage provided by Poker Central, the first player to bust at the final table was Rafael Caiaffa, who went out in ninth place to Fabian Gumz. Pedro Madeira, who is quite the online poker legend, then busted in eighth place. Madeira went out at the hands of Andres Viola and collected $100,000 for his eighth-place exit.

Madeira, who boasted nearly $5 million in online tournament earnings at the time of this final table, moved all in for 18.2 million from the hijack position at the 800,000/1.6 million level with a 1.6 million big blind ante. Viola reraised all in from cutoff seat and everyone else folded to leave Madeira’s KhJs up against the AcQs for Viola. The board ran out AhKd9d2h6d in favor of Viola.

Next to go was another well-known player. This time, it was Urbanovich hitting the rail. He went out in seventh place for $130,000. Urbanovich got the last of his money in with the AsKc against Rezaei’s 9d9s. Rezaei flopped quad nines and that was all she wrote for Urbanovich.

During six-handed play, Colonese won the biggest hand of the tournament up until that point to take a big lead on the field. Silva did his own work during six-handed action, doubling through Gumz and then taking a chunk of chips off of Colonese.

Sergio Luis Di Pego fell in sixth and Viola hit the rail in fifth, both falling at the hands of Colonese. Then during four-handed play, Silva worked to close the gap against Colonese.

Gumz would be the next player to bust, falling in fourth place to Rezaei. It was the start of a comeback for Rezaei, who would battle his way back into the chip lead during three-handed play. But then, just as he made it back to the top, things went south quickly for Rezaei and he busted in third place.

After Rezaei moved into first place with three players left, Silva won a nice pot off of him to take the chip lead. Shortly after, Silva finished Rezaei off. Silva raised and called’ Rezaei’s all-in shove with the 9d9s. Rezaei had the 8c8c and was behind. The nines held for Silva and he took a dominating chip lead into heads-up play.

The duel between Silva and Colonese didn’t last too long. Silva had about a 6-to-1 chip lead to start and finished Colonese on the following hand.

Silva limped on the button with pocket jacks and Colonese moved all in from the big blind with the 8c6d. Silva snap-called with the JcJh. The Jd4d4h flop gave Silva a winning full house and crowned him the event’s champion. The 5h and Ks completed the board.
