Pipedream17 Shoots Up to #2 Worldwide in PocketFives Rankings
Mike Pipedream17Dietrich (pictured) has been one of the fastest risers in the PocketFives Rankings. Currently, the Canadian can be found at #3 worldwide, up one spot on the week, and is knocking on the door of top ranked Chris moorman1Moorman. Dietrich’s impressive poker resume includes more than $3.6 million in tracked online poker earnings, including nearly $2.4 million on PokerStars alone.
Part of his success has been due to an increase in volume. Dietrich told PocketFives.com in an exclusive interview, “I put in a ton of hours in August preparing for the WCOOP and then even more hours during the WCOOP itself. There were many 15-hour days, five and six days per week. I was in a great mindset and made a very minimal number of mistakes throughout that period, along with the obvious run-good deep in some of the bigger Sunday events.”
At the end of August, Dietrich chopped the PokerStars Sunday 500 for $54,000. He followed that up by taking down the PokerStars $100 Rebuy on September 4th for a haul worth nearly $80,000. Is his high ranking sustainable, then? Can he continue to play at this breakneck pace with success? Dietrich weighed, “There are a ton of great players out there, so I don’t expect I will consistently remain that close to the top. However, I expect a fairly high level of consistency from myself and hope to remain in the hunt for the upper echelon of the Rankings.”
He’s now being compared to the likes of Moorman and third ranked Sebastian p0cket00Sikorski (pictured). On the two players flanking him in the Rankings, Dietrich told us, “It’s definitely an honor to even be considered in the same class as those two players at the current time. Moorman has been ranked in the top three for many years now and shown a consistency that is hard to believe anyone can match. pocket00, also a fellow Canadian, has had an amazing few years as well and has been ranked at or very near the top for a long period of time as well.”
Overall, Dietrich assessed, “I have the utmost respect for both players and hope to remain in the race alongside these two guys.” It remains to be seen who will be perched atop the PocketFives Rankings when they’re recalculated on Wednesday. You’ll have to stay tuned to find out.
If you have any doubt that Dietrich is gunning for the top spot in the world, we asked him about it. He responded that he’s focused on the #1 ranking since “it has become much more a reality than a dream.” His largest score tracked for the PocketFives Rankings was worth $133,000 and came as a result of winning the Sunday Mulligan in April.
He burst onto the online poker scene in late 2008 with a win in the PokerStars Sunday 500 for over $90,000. In April 2009, he won the PokerStars $100 Rebuy for $15,000 and final tabled the Sunday Second Chance for another $19,000.
Dietrich makes his home in London, Ontario, Canada and has a considerable amount of pride for his home turf. He’s been a part of our community since 2008 and explained, “It’s impressive to see a large number of highly ranked players that are from not only Canada, but from Toronto, London, Kitchener, and Waterloo. That’s very cool to see.” By the way, the top spot in the PocketFives Sortable Rankingsfor Canada belongs to Griffin Flush_Entity Benger (pictured).
Dietrich wanted to extend shout outs to his roommates, Cam Murballz66 Murray and Jeremy the_thorpdeoSibthorpe. He also wanted to recognize his two brothers, Matt vegasdietzDietrich and Mark Paulharvey3 Dietrich.
