Spring is in the air and there are tournaments just about everywhere waiting to be played. TourneyTracks.com presents the PocketFives Live Tournament Preview for April 2013. Note that this article is geared toward poker players in North America.

East

The World Series of Poker Circuit is making several stops along the East Coast. First, it stops at Foxwoods in Mashantucket, Connecticut (pictured) from March 27 to April 8. Next is Harrah’s Cherokee in Cherokee, North Carolina from April 4 to 15. And the last stop is at Harrah’s Philadelphia in Chester, Pennsylvania from April 25 to May 6. All of the stops will feature the standard 12 ring events and offer a few additional non-ring events.

The Borgata hosts its Spring Poker Open series from April 2 to 19. The Borgata always puts on great events and this should be no exception. The series has 45 events with buy-ins ranging from $145 to $2,700 and features a variety of poker disciplines. It has big guarantees and should draw large fields.

The DeepStacks Poker Tour is teaming up with Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania to host the Northeast Pennsylvania Poker Open from April 6 to 13. The series will feature 16 events with buy-ins ranging from $100 to $1,100. A few DeepStacks pros like Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi have committed to attend.

The Playground Poker Club located just outside Montreal, Quebec is hosting the PartyPoker World Poker Tour Canadian Spring Championship. The series features 11 events with buy-ins ranging from $150 CAD to $5,300 CAD. The Championship event will be live streamed.

West

The Venetian Deep Stack Extravaganza continues until April 24 at the Venetian in Las Vegas (pictured). There are 82 events spread across 28 days with buy-ins ranging from $200 to $2,500, so there should be something for everyone. These events always draw large fields and have lots of action.

The Hustler Casino Los Angeles will be hosting the Liz Flynt Spring Poker Classing from April 5 to May 1. The series has seven events with buy-ins ranging from $180 to $500. Although the series has smaller buy-ins, the guarantees are still relatively large and it should attract a softer field.

The Northwest has a few events going on starting with the Tulalip Pro Poker Challenge hosted by Tulalip Casino near Seattle, Washington from April 5 to 7. This is a $1,100 event with two Day 1s. Next, the Spring Poker Round Up returns to the returns to the Wildhorse Resort and Casino in Pendleton, Oregon. With buy-ins ranging from $110 to $520, this series is perfect for low-rollers and these events are reported to be tons of fun.

Vancouver is also seeing some action. Fraser Downs is hosting a four-event series with buy-ins ranging from $220 CAD to $880 CAD. There’s a bounty event, team bounty event, NLHE/ PLO Mixed event, and a NLHE main event with two Day 1s. After that, the Edgewater Casino is hosting the Spring UltraStack series. Central

Minnesota has a couple of large events in April. The Ante Up Poker Tour stops at Running Aces Harness Park in Columbus (pictured) from April 11 to 21. The series will offer great structures for its 12 events with buy-ins ranging from $50 to $1,100. The $250, $500, and $1,100 events all feature multiple Day 1s. The $250 event even features a buyback of your smaller stacks for $1,000 each if you make it to Day 2 multiple times. And if you win the main event, you get your picture on the cover of Ante Up Magazine.

After that, the Mid-States Poker Tour returns to Canterbury Park in Shakopee from April 20 to 28. The MSPT also has a great structure for its $1,100 Main Event, which will be live streamed. Canterbury Park tends to draw the largest fields for MSPT events, so this may be the time they break the 400-entrant mark.

Just to the south, Iowa has a couple of large events. The MSPT stops at the Meskwaki Casino in Tama from March 30 to April 7. The $1,100 main event has a $300,000 guarantee and there is always lots of juicy cash game action throughout the week. Then, the World Series of Poker Circuit makes a stop at the Horseshoe in Council Bluffs, Iowa from April 11 to 22. This stop has the standard 12 ring events and six non-ring events of various formats.

Following the trend, just south of that, Missouri also has two major stops. First is the Hollywood Poker Open Regional held at Hollywood Casino St. Louis in Maryland Heights from April 4 to 15. The series has 21 events with buy-ins ranging from $125 to $1,620. There are even a couple of Omaha events thrown into the mix.

Next, the Heartland Poker Tour stops at the River City Casino in St. Louis from April 19 to 28. In addition to the $1,650 televised main event, there will be 15 events with buy-ins ranging from $100 to $550. All 2013 main events feature a new structure designed by Daniel Negreanu.

To the southwest of that, the Choctaw Casino in Durant, Oklahoma is hosting the Choctaw Poker Classic from April 18 to 28. The series consists of 31 events with buy-ins ranging from $125 to $1,100. The $1,100 Championship event has a $300,000 guarantee, so it should draw a decent field.
