Any way you slice it, September was a banner month for Chile’s Nicolas PokerKaiserFierro (pictured). He ascended to the top of the PocketFives Online Poker Rankings on September 24 and seems poised to maintain the distinction of being our #1 player when the Rankings are recalculated on Wednesday.

He recorded a rock solid 271 in the money finishes in online tournaments during September for $363,000 total. Highlights included a win in a PokerStars WCOOP $215 No Limit Hold’em Turbo Knockout for $101,000 officially, a tournament that saw Fierro outlast almost 4,000 entrants.

He finished second in a WCOOP $215 No Limit Hold’em Re-Entry Big Antes event for $59,000 in September and took down the Full Tilt $150 Rebuy for about the same amount. Impressively, Fierro amassed 20 first place finishes in tournaments we track during September, bringing his career total to 227.

Not surprisingly, Fierro was the September PLB championand, given his 20 wins, managed to scoop not one, not two, but three PocketFives Triple Crownsduring the month. We believe it’s the first time a PocketFiver has scored three Triple Crowns in a month since Chris moorman1 Moorman did so in October 2013.

By the way, a Triple Crown on PocketFives requires a person to win three scheduled MTTs with at least 100 players and at least a $10,000 prize pool across three sites tracked for the Rankings within seven days. The three Triple Crowns in September were the eighth, ninth, and tenth of Fierro’s career, putting him in third place all-time on PocketFives. He accounted for one-quarter of the Triple Crowns awarded last month.

Here’s a look at his three Triple Crowns in September:

September 14: Full Tilt, PartyPoker, and PokerStars for 540.55 PLB Points
September 22: PokerStars, Carbon, and PokerStars.fr for 448.09 PLB Points
September 30: PokerStars, Full Tilt, and PokerStars.fr for 397.38 PLB Points

Fierro accounts for all 10 of Chile’s Triple Crowns. The South American nation, as a result, is in the top 20 on PocketFives in terms of the number of Triple Crowns won. Fierro has amassed five of them this year, and we still have three more months for him to continue his winning ways.

Congrats to Fierro on his epic September!
