It has been a busy month of August on PocketFives. In fact, two of our longtime members, one of whom is ranked #1 worldwide, won PocketFives Triple Crowns. They were the 73rd and 74th Triple Crowns awarded this year.

Let’s start with the heck a Triple Crown is in case you have no idea. In order to get one, a person must win three multi-table tournaments, each of which starts within the same seven-day period, across three of the sites we track. Each tournament must have a prize pool of at least $10,000 and have at least 100 players. Satellites and freerolls do not count.

Okay, back to the story now. On August 9, Nico PokerKaiserFierro (pictured above) earned his 19th PocketFives Triple Crown. Our current #1 player in the world, Fierro won two Sunday Majors in the process. First, he took down the 888 PokerMega Deep on August 2 for $22,000. The next day, he won the PokerStars$109 No Limit Hold’em Turbo Re-Entry for $2,700 before rounding out his Triple Crown the following weekend in the PartyPoker Sunday Major.

This was Fierro’s 19th Triple Crown and his ninth of 2015. His last Triple Crown came in June of this year and he has amassed the second most number of Triple Crowns all-time, trailing only Chris Moorman1 Moorman, who has 25. Fierro has every single one of Chile’s Triple Crowns.

Then there’s Sweden’s inhoo. He won his fifth Triple Crown on August 11. In fact, all three of his wins came on the same day. inhoo won the PokerStars $55 No Limit Hold’em Turbo Re-Entry for $3,600, the Winamax XPERT for $3,000, and the PartyPoker Daily Major for $9,800. It was his first Triple Crown in almost exactly a year.

Sweden has 51 Triple Crown wins, so inhoo has been responsible for 10% of them. He’s #109 worldwide in the Rankings right now after ascending as high as #3 last year.

PocketFives has awarded over 1,000 Triple Crowns since 2005, including 138 last year. We are on pace for about 120 this year. The most number of Triple Crowns awarded in one year was in 2013, when 208 were won.
