This week has been an eventful one for PokerStars. On Monday, the iGaming giant celebrated its return to the US market, launching in New Jersey after getting the green light from state regulators there. That same day, the site drew fire for its decision to increase rake for select games in its share liquidity market.

PokerStars had more news to share yesterday, when it announced a new mountain-themed tournament series which will guarantee a prize pool of more than $4 million.

The Mountain Series will be based on some of the world highest peaks and run from April 7-10. Buy-ins start at $11 and climb all the way up to $2,100, with guarantees starting at $100,000 and growing every day.

The marquee tournament of the series, fittingly titled the Mount Everest Main Event, will allow for reentry and boasts a $1.5 million guarantee. Eight of the 10 events scheduled are No-limit Hold ‘em tournaments, with PLO being played at the other two.
