Late last month, Vanessa princessdonkPeng (pictured) picked up the win in the weekly $200,000 Guarantee on UB.com. Her victory was worth $45,000, the largest online poker cash we’ve tracked for the Nevada resident here at PocketFives.com, and she’s at over $1 million in earnings from tournaments that count for the Online Poker Rankings. We caught up with one of the up-and-coming female stars of the game to recap her latest accolade.

Peng told PocketFives.com that the tournament structures on UB.com may have contributed to her victory: “I think the UB.com final table structures are the best out of the three sites. Going into heads-up of the $200,000 Guarantee, my opponent had me out-chipped almost 2:1, but I still had over 50 big blinds. They give you room to maneuver and force more folds post-flop rather than racing pre-flop.”

Peng finished 36th in the UB.com Online Championship (UBOC) Main Event for over $4,000. The same day, she won the $200,000 Guarantee and final tabled the Full Tilt Poker $150,000 Guarantee. On the memorable afternoon of poker, Peng told us, “The final table of the $200,000 Guarantee was tough and, when it got short-handed, the money bubble of the UBOC Championship was also about to burst.” Ultimately, she landed in 36th in the $1,000 UBOC Championship.

Peng, like recent PocketFives.com Podcastguest Lauren locoenlacabeza Kling (pictured), is a woman navigating a male-dominated game. Peng told us, “It’s more noticeable live, but lately live pros will say something like, ‘I know you’ and snap me off lightly. The player pools at $10,000 events in the U.S. are pretty small, so I just try to play big events. I hate live though. It’s incredibly slow and boring.”

Despite not being fond of live play, Peng admitted that you’ll be seeing her more on the brick-and-mortar tournament circuit going forward. Why, you ask? “I know I have to play live to make myself as marketable as possible for a sponsorship.” Last September, she cashed in the EPT London Main Event for $17,000 and, according to the Hendon Mob database, has over $22,000 in live scores to her credit.

Peng’s other top-tier online poker accomplishments include a win in the PokerStars $100 Cubed last May for $42,000 and a runner-up finish in the UB.com $200,000 Guarantee four weeks later for $28,000. She’s at #191 worldwide in the PocketFives.com Poker Rankings and has over $1 million in tracked cashes.

We’ve asked a variety of interviewees on PocketFives.com what the biggest surprise of the recently passed 2010 calendar year was. For Peng, the revelation of the man behind the Isildur1 moniker stole the show: “I think biggest surprise would be Isildur1 getting signed by PokerStars. I saw Viktor Blom (pictured) at Day 2 at WSOP Europe in London and people were speculating then if he was Isildur1. The whole unveiling was pretty cool, although it was quite an event for very little surprise. The entire online community was always so interested in him.”

Blom signed with PokerStars in December and revealed his true identity during last month’s PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in the Bahamas. The Swedish pro now resides in London.

Peng wanted to send shout outs to Mark dipthrongHerm (pictured), Paul paulgees81Volpe, and Benson BBOY3110 Nikkerson. The trio can all be found in the top 100 of the Rankings at #76, #3, and #68, respectively. Talk about good company.
