Rafael ‘GM_VALTER’ Moraes was part of the Brazilian brigade that dominated Day 2 of PokerStars SCOOP

Brazilian grinders dominated the second day of the Spring Championship of Online Poker, taking home three of the six titles up for grabs, but nobody had a bigger score than Rafael ‘GM_VALTER’ Moraes who walked away with over $300,000 for his win.

The $2,100 NLHE high-stakes event garnered a respectable 887 runners, who pumped up the prize pool to $1.77 million. Once again, the Brazilians dominated, with Moraes and his compatriot, Kelvin ‘Kelvin_FP:AR’ Kerber, taking both first and second place. In the final hand, Moraes flopped two pair and a flush draw against his opponent’s made straight. When the turn brought another six, completing Moraes’ full house, the two players got all the money in. Rafael took home a $301,625 payday for the win, leaving his opponent with $256,297 for second place.

The mid-stakes, Event #4 NLHE tournament featured a $250 buy-in and garnered 6,745 entrants. Brazilian grinder ‘Nelepo10‘ faced off against Austria’s ‘Magardan‘ in heads-up play, with each hoping to secure the largest chunk of the $1.34 million prize pool. In the final hand, ‘Magardan’ moved all in with QhJs, but went bust when his opponent flopped trips with Ks9s. ‘Nelepo10’ became the third Brazilian to win an SCOOP title in the first two days of play, banking $209,095 for his victory.

In total, 13,286 entrants ponied up the $27 buy-in for the Event #4 low-stakes tournament, generating a prize pool of $326,171. Austria’s ‘glissario‘ started the final table with the biggest stack, and rode it all the way into heads-up play, where he dueled with Norway’s ‘Elefant_X‘. In the end, the two players struck a deal which gave ‘glissario’ a $40,940 chunk of change for first place, and a $33,474 consolation prize for his opponent.

The Event #5 tournaments began with a $7.50 buy-in Six Max NLHE event which attracted 13,381 entrants, all vying for the $91,258 in prize money. Yet another Brazilian, ‘Bean1992‘, came out on top, vanquishing Hungry’s ‘FishOnHeater’ to win yet another title for his country along with the $12,511 first place payout.

The mid-stakes Event #5 tournament drew 3,361 players who made 1,117 reentries, creating a prize pool of $335,850. When the smoke cleared, Germany’s ‘HhCMotU‘ found himself heads-up at the final table with Danish grinder ‘Anderbisse’. The final hand played out with three diamonds on the board, leaving ‘Anderbisse’ with a Jack-high flush, but giving his opponent a King-high flush. The German walked away with a hefty $51,219 cash, with his opponent pocketing a $36,943 payday.

A total of 1,279 runners paid the $700 buy-in to participate in the last high-stakes tournament of the day. Australia’s ‘Imluckbox‘ eventually vanquished ‘FoxyLisa’ of Sweden to bank the $142,465 first-place prize.
