Fabricio ‘SixthSenSe19’ Gonzalez’s hot streak has propelled to the #1 spot on the PocketFives Rankings (SHRPO photo)

You could say that things are going well right now for Fabricio ‘SixthSenSe19’ Gonzalez. A little less than three weeks ago he won a World Championship of Online Poker title, his second, after outlasting an elite field in the $1,050 Triple Draw 2-7 Championship. He continued to crush WCOOP, cashing 24 times on his way to winning the WCOOP Leaderboard. Now he’s got another feather he can put in his cap.

Number one ranked online poker player in the world.

Gonzalez took over the #1 spot this past week, ending the two-week reign of Joao Mathias ‘joaomathias’ Baumgarten, thanks to an impressive performance on Sunday in two of PokerStars’ biggest buy-in events.

Gonzalez finished fourth in the $1,050 Sunday Grand No Limit Hold’em to earn $23,872 and 239.6 PLB points. At nearly the exact same time he finished third in the Sunday Grand Pot Limit Omaha event for $24,362/250.32. Those two scores put him past the 9,300 point mark and gave the Uruguayan the #1 spot for the first time in his career.

Baumgarten dropped to #2 after posting only one cash big enough to count toward his PLB score. The Brazilian, who has been #1 on two occasions for a total of three weeks, finished 10th in the $2,600 buy-in partypoker Super High Roller on Sunday for 108.77 points.

While the top two spots swapped places, Sweden’s ‘C Darwin2’ maintained his hold on the #3 spot even though none of his six cashes this past week earned him enough points to count towards his PLB total. ‘C Darwin2’ was #1-ranked player for 11 straight weeks before Baumgarten passed him two weeks ago.

Alex ‘alexd2’ Dimitrov also managed to hang on to his spot. The Bulgarian took down a $500 buy-in event on Black Chip Poker for $2,193 and 106.54 points for his only qualifying cash of the week.

lena900’, one of three Swedish players in the top 10, moved up to #5 from #6 this week, swapping positions with Brazilian, and former #1-ranked Joao ‘joaosimaobh’ Simao.

Only one player broke into the top 10 this week. ‘European’ moved up from #13 to #10 thanks to an 11th place finish in the PokerStars Super Tuesday for $4,448/136.69.

Johannes ‘Greenstone25’ Korsar was the only player to fall out of the top 10. He’s now #11 in the world and #4 in Sweden.
