Save for the World Series of Poker Main Event, July is usually a slow time for the poker world and that slowness has seen the top of the New Jersey Online Poker Rankings remain more or less the same heading into the final month of the summer. The changes that have occurred are relatively small in nature but as the calendar turns, some players are putting themselves in great positions to end 2016 in the top ten.

Keith ‘donnysack’ Donovan looks like he’s a lock to finish the year as one of New Jersey’s most successful grinders. He’s held the top spot in the rankings for the better part of the last four months. July was a relatively quiet month for New Jersey’s #1 ranked player, as he spent the first two weeks of July in Las Vegas recording two WSOP cashes.

Donovan was able to record four podium finishes last month, while Jeremy ‘Jermz’ Danger recorded over 30 top-three finishes in July. His biggest result came in BorgataPoker.com’s Sunday Seconds $10K GTD event, with the win earning Danger just over $2,600. While Danger took the quantity over quality approach in July, Michael ‘JohnnyDrama’ Haberman did a little bit of both.

The former #1 ranked player came on strong through the second half of July, winning the $100 Nightly Stars event twice in the same week. The final Sunday of the month saw Haberman finish as the $40,000 Sunday Championship Bonus runner-up on BorgataPoker.com, for $6,000 and win the BorgataPoker.com Daily $10K on the same night.

Haberman now sits just a few PLB points above Michael ‘Gags30’ Gagliano, with the recent WSOP bracelet winner falling out of the top-three. Despite falling a spot since last month, Gagliano hasn’t taken his foot off the pedal since claiming his first WSOP victory, notching four sizable online wins over the last month.

Yong ‘ykwon17’ Kwon held his spot in the top-five, while Fred ‘BiggDaddy’ Ferrell fell to sixth. Daniel ‘centrfieldr’ Lupo makes the biggest jump within the top-ten, moving from tenth to seventh thanks to a half dozen podium finishes in big buy-in events. His best result came midway through July, when Lupo won the WSOP.com Online Championships Event #91 for just shy of $3,000.

Lupo’s jump up the leaderboard would be the biggest movement over the last month, if it wasn’t for the emergence of last year’s most dominating player. ‘Mergulas‘ has spent the tail end of the summer racking up results, enough to shoot himself in to the top-ten. ‘Mergulas’ got off to a relatively pedestrian start early in 2016 but now looks like he’s finally finding his form heading into August.
